The
Karoq measures 4,382 mm in length, is 1,841 mm wide, and 1,624 mm high. It has
a wheelbase of 2,638 mm. The long wheelbase not only increases the space inside
but also carves out a boot space of 521 litres, the largest within its class,
which extends to 1,630 litres with the rear seats, capable of a 60:40 split,
folded down thereby making space for business, pleasure, and practical
essentials.
The
fascia of the new Karoq is dominated by distinctive chrome surround on the Skoda
signature radiator grille, characteristic LED headlamps with illuminated
'eyelashes', and sharply drawn fog lamps with cornering function. The dual tone
Anthracite 43.18 cm (R17) Aronia alloy wheels, silver roof railings, crisp
chrome garnish around the side window frames intensify the premium feel of this
new Skoda SUV. The Skoda Karoq comes with electrically adjustable panoramic
sunroof with bounce back system that enhances the feeling of space.
At
the rear, the Karoq dons crystalline elements in the Skoda-typical C-shaped LED
taillights. The ‘SKODA’ block letters on the tailgate supplanted the
traditional winged arrow insignia. The new Karoq gets silver décor on the
dashboard with Stone Beige perforated leather upholstery. The decorative
elements are black and gracefully complemented by chrome highlights. The 12-way
electrically adjustable driver seat with programmable memory functions and
lumbar support, come as standard.
The
LED ambient lighting, running along the inside of the new Karoq, offers 10
programmable interior colour options. The foot well offers diffused LED
lighting at front and rear.
COMFORT AND
CONVENIENCE
The
state of the art 8 inches floating capacitive touch display, with proximity
sensor, features a glass design and is a part of the new generation Amundsen
Infotainment and Navigation System developed by Skoda Auto. The new Karoq is
equipped with SmartLink technology (Skoda connectivity bundle supporting
MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto) that mirrors a smartphone for
seamless connectivity and undistracted drive; besides supporting voice command
control, SD card reader, USB ports, and Bluetooth GSM telephony and audio
streaming options.
The
new Karoq features the Virtual Cockpit, a customizable digital instrument panel
that offers a 'Simply Clever' perspective on comprehensive driving data and
navigation.
The
intelligent Two Zone Climatronic air conditioning system, with Air Care
function, enables different temperatures to be set for the front and rear
passengers. It is also fitted with a humidity sensor, which reduces windscreen
misting, and a sun sensor. The Boarding spot lamps, designated to illuminate
the entry area, are located on the external side view mirrors. Furthermore, the
Skoda Karoq also comes equipped with cruise control and automatic rain sensing
wipers.
ENGINE AND
TRANSMISSION
The
new 1.5 TSI petrol engine, mated with an automatic seven speed DSG gearbox, is
at the core of the new Skoda Karoq. With 16 valves Dual Overhead Camshaft
(DOHC), it delivers 148hp and a peak torque output of 250 Nm, while delivering
a fuel efficiency figure of 16.95 kmpl (high phase WLTP) and a top speed of 202
km/h. With Active Cylinder Technology, to further boost the fuel economy, two
of the four cylinders in the TSI powertrain are deactivated, in view of the
power requirement. Now that’s Simply Clever!
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The
new Skoda Karoq comes loaded with a wide range of standard safety features,
such as nine airbags: dual front airbags, side airbags at front and rear,
driver knee airbag as well as curtain airbags at front and rear, which is a
segment benchmark.
The
headlights of the new Karoq come with the AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System)
function for optimum illumination of the road and its surroundings. These
headlamps can respond to speed changes as well as to various light and weather
conditions. The AFS system includes headlamp swivelling and cornering
functions, in addition to dynamic headlamp inclination control.
The
Skoda Karoq is also equipped with iBuzz Fatigue Alert that detects any signs of
fatigue in the driver and notifies him or her to take a break. To increase the
degree of chassis protection, the vehicle is fitted with the Rough Road
Package, taking the form of additional protection for the engine bay, oil sump,
gearbox, etc.
In
addition, a host of other security equipment and safety support functions
include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), EBD
(Electronic Brake-force Distribution), MBA (Mechanical Brake Assist), MKB
(Multi Collision Brake), HBA (Hill Brake Assist), ASR (Anti Slip Regulation),
EDS (Electronic Differential Lock), electromechanical parking brake with Auto
Hold function, tyre pressure monitoring system, acoustic warning signal for
overrun speed, engine immobiliser with floating code system, Parktronic sensors
and speakers at front and rear, and KESSY (Keyless Entry, Start, and exit
SYstem) with engine start/stop button.
