EXTERIOR DESIGN
The
new Superb comes with a comprehensive raft of styling enhancements. The
signature Skoda grille on the new Superb is large and protrudes down into the
new front fascia. The sharp and sleek headlights now merge with the radiator
grille and come equipped with LED technology, as standard. The shape of the
front fog lights has been redesigned and allow the aesthetic aspiration of the
new Superb to stand out. These LED fog lights, with cornering function, house
four diodes to illuminate the area in front of the vehicle, especially in low
lighting condition.
The
Skoda Superb opens up new vistas with the electrically adjustable panoramic
sunroof with bounce back system that enhances the feeling of space. While the Superb
Laurin & Klement sports chrome design elements, the SportLine dons a sporty
glossy black character.
The
side profile of the new Superb now is even more exquisite in appearance. The
perfectly balanced exterior proportions, sporty silhouette, and dynamic
horizontal lines are complemented by the new R17 Cassiopeia dual tone alloy
wheels on the Superb Laurin & Klement as well as the new R17 Stratos
Anthracite alloy wheels on the Superb SportLine. Further, LED spotlights
project the ‘Skoda’ logo on the ground, under the front doors, every time one
steps in or out of the new Superb. The distinctive ‘Laurin & Klement’ or
‘SportLine’ plaque, sitting on the front fenders, is tastefully complemented by
the SUPERB-embossed aluminium scuff
plates that elevate the overall charm and allure.
At
the rear, a chrome strip on the Superb Laurin & Klement (or a gloss black
trim on the Superb SportLine) connecting the Skoda-typical C-shaped LED
taillights with dynamic turn indicator is particularly eye catching. The ‘SKODA’
block letters on the tailgate supplanted the traditional winged arrow insignia.
It reflects the evolution of the Skoda design philosophy, now 'Simply
Surprising', and is a perfect testament to the brand's profound
self-confidence. The redesigned rear diffuser, with chrome highlights, marries
form and function perfectly.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The
Piano Black décor, sets the tone for the Superb Laurin & Klement, with
Stone Beige and Coffee Brown perforated leather upholstery. The decorative
elements are black and gracefully complemented by chrome highlights.
The
Carbon décor, three spoke SuperSport multifunction steering wheel with paddle
shift, and black Alcantara Sports Seats with integrated headrests and silver
stitching add to the active theme inside the new Superb SportLine.
The
12-way electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats, with
programmable memory functions and lumbar support, comes as standard. The new Superb
Laurin & Klement, in addition, features ventilated front seats with cooling
and heating function. The LED ambient lighting, running along the inside of the
new Superb, offers 10 programmable interior colour options. The footwell offers
diffused LED lighting at front and rear.
COMFORT AND
CONVENIENCE
The
state of the art 8 inches floating capacitive touch display, with proximity
sensor, features a glass design and is a part of the new generation Amundsen
Infotainment and Navigation System developed by Skoda Auto. The new Superb is
equipped with SmartLink technology (Skoda connectivity bundle supporting
MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto) that mirrors a smartphone for
seamless connectivity and undistracted drive; besides supporting voice command
control, SD card reader, USB ports, and Bluetooth GSM telephony and audio
streaming options. The premium Canton Sound System on the new Superb Laurin and
Klement features 11 speakers, a subwoofer, and has a power output of 610 watts.
Activated
with the mode button on the centre console, Driving Mode Select on the new Superb
Laurin & Klement offers Eco, Normal, Sport, and Individual drive options.
The new Superb SportLine features the Virtual Cockpit, a customizable digital
instrument panel that offers a 'Simply Clever' perspective on comprehensive
driving data and navigation.
The
intelligent Three Zone Climatronic air conditioning system with Air Care
function, as well as pollen and odour filters, enables different temperature to
be set for the driver, front, and rear passengers. It is also fitted with a
humidity sensor, which reduces windscreen misting, and a sun sensor. The
Boarding spot lamps, designated to illuminate the entry area, are located on
the external side view mirrors. Furthermore, the Skoda Superb also comes
equipped with cruise control and automatic rain sensing wipers.
The
Power Nap Package of the new Skoda Superb Laurin & Klement, along with the
roll up sun visor, will enable rear passengers to sleep soundly on a long
journey. It includes variable headrests of the outer seats for a comfortably
supported head posture while sleeping.
The
Superb offers a storage capacity of 625 litres in the boot, which extends to
1,760 litres with the rear seats, capable of a 60:40 split, folded down. The
swipe foot movement underneath the new Superb Laurin & Klement, with the
Virtual Pedal, enables contact free access to this unrivalled luggage space.
ENGINE AND
TRANSMISSION
The
new 2.0 TSI petrol engine, mated with an automatic seven speed DSG gearbox, is
at the core of the new Skoda Superb range. With 16 valves Dual Overhead
Camshaft (DOHC), it delivers 187.40 hp and a peak torque output of 320 Nm,
while delivering a fuel efficiency figure of 15.10 kmpl. It accelerates from a
standstill to a 100 km/h in mere 7.7 seconds and has a top speed of 239 km/h.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The
standard safety equipment on the new SUPERB includes a wide range of features, such
as eight airbags: dual front airbags, side airbags at front and rear as well as
curtain airbags at front and rear, which is a segment benchmark.
To
increase the degree of chassis protection, the vehicle is fitted with the Rough
Road Package, taking the form of additional protection for the engine bay, oil
sump, gearbox, rear suspension, lateral arms, and brake hoses. The Skoda Superb
Laurin & Klement is also equipped with iBuzz Fatigue Alert that detects any
signs of fatigue in the driver and notifies him or her to take a break.
In
addition, a host of other security equipment and safety support functions
include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), EBD
(Electronic Brake-force Distribution), MBA (Mechanical Brake Assist), MKB
(Multi Collision Brake), HBA (Hill Brake Assist), HHC (Hill Hold Control), ASR
(Anti Slip Regulation), EDS (Electronic Differential Lock), anti-theft alarm
with interior monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring system (on the new Superb Laurin
& Klement), acoustic warning signal for overrun speed, engine immobiliser
with floating code system, Parktronic sensors and speakers at front and rear,

button.
