Honda
Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) concluded the fourth Round of
Honda One Make Race 2014 under the umbrella of ‘MMSC - FMSCI National
Motorcycle Racing Championship 2014’. The race was conducted at the Kari Motor
Speedway in Coimbatore recently.
It
was a tight finish in the Honda CBR 250 category with Deepak R beating Sumit Lucas Toppo by
0.024secs. For Deepak it was his second win of the weekend. Both riders, who
had a close battle in Race 1 as well, put on a brilliant performance with the
lead exchanging hands several times. They were side by side as they came down
the main straight on the final lap with Deepak just edging ahead. Sarath Kumar
finished a distant 3rd position.
In
the Honda CBR 150R Novice category, Naresh Babu won ahead of Mithun Kumar and Mal
Sawmdawngliana. The Honda One Make Race tested riders in two categories -
Novice & Open-- according to their racing expertise. Overall 60 riders
participated in Round 4 of Honda One Make Race. Round 4 saw participants from as far as
Mizoram, Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Aizwal, Jalgaon, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Trichy
and Aoroville.
CBR
250R category was the Team Championship wherein 19 CBR 250R motorcycles were
leased to professional racing teams registered at FMSCI. These included Moto
Rev, Ten 10, Apex Racing, ProLap Racing to name a few. Honda modified each CBR
250R motorcycle with imported HRC performance kits. Honda also supported
participating teams with original spare parts worth Rs.10,000 and a set of race
tyres replacement. Further, registered teams made modifications to enhance
performance of their motorcycle.
Honda
also provided CBR 150R with original spares support on lease for Group C and
Group D of ‘National Motorcycle Racing Championship’ to four4 teams. To induct
the novice and amateur riders to safe riding, Honda also provided CBR 150R to
MMSC to run the Group C and Group D classes.
Top
3 racers were awarded attractive cash prizes (1st – Rs. 7500, 2nd – Rs. 5000,
3rd – Rs. 2500).
This
is for the seventh year in succession for the Honda One Make Race. It offers a
unique platform through which Honda promotes motorsport culture in India. Keita
Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter noted that the overwhelming
response by participants and enthusiasts to the Honda One Make Race is
vindication of the immense potential that motorsport has in India. “With the
CBR 250R under Team Championship, Honda is promoting its global legacy of
providing advanced motor-sports experience to expert riders. This year, we
introduced the 150cc CBR 150R for Novice riders,” he said.
