There
seems to be no stopping the F1 driver from Mercedes AMG Petronas Lewis Hamilton.
And there seem to also no stopping his teammate Nico Rosberg from giving his
mate a tough fight. While Hamilton won his fourth straight victory for Mercedes
at the Barcelona (Spain) Grand Prix, Nico came in second.
With
this fourth consecutive win, Hamilton has moved into a three-point championship
lead over team mate Nico Rosberg. All this happened on May 11, 2014 in Spain, a
country known more for its bull fights than a fast car race.
Tyre
changes for Rosberg from hard Pirelli tyres to mediums helped him keep up with
Hamilton who was content with his set of mediums. Throughout the pals, the
fight between Rosberg and Hamilton was intense. They went into their final lap
separated by only 0.6s. It was their
fourth consecutive one-two finish.
Red
Bull Racing-Renault had to be content with a third spot on the podium with Daniel
Ricciardo though he was a long 49s behind Hamilton. Ricciardo’s teammate and former
world champion Sebastian Vettel finished
fourth.
Valtteri
Bottas of Williams Mercedes raced into the fifth potion, followed by Fernando
Alonso and his teammate Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari. They in turn was followed by
Romain Grosjean of Lotus Renault who fought brake problems. With this Lotus
scored its first points of the season.
The
ninth and tenth positions were secured by Force India’s Sergio Perez and Nico
Hulkenberg.
Hamilton
now has 100 points, Rosberg 97, Alonso 49
and Vettel 45, with Ricciardo directly behind him on 39. In the constructors'
stakes, Mercedes pull further ahead with 197 to Red Bull's 84, while Ferrari has
66 and Force India 57.
