Polaris India Pvt. Ltd, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Polaris Industries Inc and manufacturers of All-Terrain
Vehicles (ATV), is once again all set to participate in the 5th edition of the
Royal Rajasthan Rally 2016 in Rajasthan, one of the most demanding off-road
rallies in the world. Polaris India is also the title sponsor of the event for
the second time in a row. The rally will be held from January 7-10, 2016 and
will be called Polaris Royal Rajasthan Rally 2016.
Speaking about Polaris’
participation in the Royal Rajasthan Rally 2016, Pankaj Dubey, Managing
Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd., noted, “Sponsoring our superlative vehicles
and supremely abled drivers has given us confidence of trumping this year.
Previous held RRR events have been extremely tough and stimulating. This year
is going to be even more challenging and exciting. Our flagship RZRs are designed for high durability and
low maintenance qualities in such events and have emerged as the preferred
vehicle by rally enthusiasts all around. For the first time, we have three
women participants- Ashima Kaushik, Khyati Mody and Smitha Prasad taking part
in the rally. I wish the Polaris team the very best for the event.”
In its fifth edition, the
Royal Rajasthan Rally is divided in two categories: Adventure and Extreme.
Adventure (TSD) will span over 4 days running through approximately 1000 kms.
The rally will span through desert with night halts at regal palaces and end at
Jaipur. Navigation skills along with vehicle capability will be put to test in
the ‘Mind & Metal’ challenge. In RRR –Extreme category, the challenge has
been upped. The vehicle and driver’s abilities will be tested to the utmost
through 1000 kms of harsh travelling with close to 450 kms of extreme
competitive sections. This year, for both the categories, an additional 250 kms
have been added to further test the grit of man and machine as compared to last
year’s rally distance of 750 kms.
Polaris is also looking
forward to the newly introduced RRR – Shakedown, that will add to the
excitement of the event. With a 760cc twin-cylinder engine churning out 52bhp,
RZR S 800 is specifically designed to take on off-road terrain. The rear
placement of the engine ensures a lower centre of gravity, thus providing sharp
handling capabilities with good rough-terrain stability.
The RZR XP 900 is powered by
an 875cc 4-Stroke Dual OverHead Cams (DOHC) Twin Cylinder that puts the vehicle
in the niche segment. It is equipped with new bolstered bucket seats with
driver’s side slider that gives a smooth ride. The design ensures more power to
the ground, less driveline noise and lighter weight. The three-Link Trailing
Arm IRS creates the smoothest, most precise ride with no excess parts to add
weight.
