Jetracing, the first-ever
truck racing tyre in India from JK Tyre, which was a major success when T1
Prima Truck made its Indian debut last year, will once again be making its
presence felt at the second edition of the Tata T1Prima Truck Racing
Championship.
The final race will be held on
March 15, 2015 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing
Championship was a major breakthrough in the Indian motorsport and JK Tyre was
a partner. This “grippy” tyre performed rather well in 2014 at the BIC truck
race, and is expected to continue its winning streak, in a race that can be
expected to be faster than last year because of better performing engines this
year.
V K Misra, Technical Director,
JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. said- “Although we were excited to know that the
Prima race truck are 10pc faster with a speed of up to 130 km/h compared to 110
km/hr last year, we took it upon ourselves to develop higher specs tyres. The
latest tyre has been developed using new design technique of ‘Tapered tread
profile’ completed with ‘HE wire’ and ‘special wire wrap’, these tyres are
capable to run up to a speed of 160 kmph.”
“Jetracing tyre is an example of JK Tyre’s
superior research and product development capabilities. Measuring
at315/80R22.5, the tyre is designed with special low heat and high traction
compound to meet the most gruelling braking conditions of a racing
circuit. With the second season of our
partnership with T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship, we are confident the race
drivers will enjoy pumping up the speeds,” he added.
The difference between a usual
road tyre and Jetracing tyre is that the contact patch of the latter is
optimised to meet the unfathomable turning requirements of a racing circuit.
Going deeper into the technicalities, the asymmetric tread pattern is designed
for better handling on a dry pavement. It has asymmetric shoulder drop with a
rounded outer shoulder for a balanced cornering and lateral stability. The
shallow circumferential grooves with optimised groove sections provide the much
needed excellent heat dissipation. The belt package is optimised in terms of
lay and angle for excellent tread stiffness that enhances the steering and handling
ability.
