Hero Action Team, India’s
first professionally managed mountain biking team, reached another milestone by
covering one of the most difficult terrains in India during winters. In a
first-of-its-kind mountain biking snow expedition riders of Hero Action Team
undertook a treacherous 15 km ride from a camp in Kufri to Shimla at a time
when all vehicular movements were closed on the route due to heavy snowfall.
This was stated in a press release issued by the company.
On the completion of the
expedition Pankaj Munjal, Co-Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Cycles
said, “We are very proud of the Hero Action Team and congratulate them on this
feat. What is remarkable about this team is that they constantly try to push
their limits and challenge themselves by setting newer and higher milestones
and accomplishing near to impossible tasks. This is the core of Hero Action
Team, braving and facing the unknown and never treaded before paths.”
This ride, which on a normal
day would have taken not more than 30 minutes, took more than 3 hours to cover
due to the extreme conditions under which the team completed the task. Hero
Action Team comprising of Devender, Gurman Reen, Sanchit Sood along with the
support team of Ashish Sood, Akshit, Sushant and Vicky weathered extreme conditions
to reach their destination.
Hero Action Team uses UT
bikes, India’s most trusted mountain biking brand of cycles, to compete in all
domestic cycling events. UT bikes are manufactured by Hero Cycles, the world’s
largest cycle manufacturer.
Ashish Sood, Manager, Hero
Action Team said, “This was one the toughest rides that Hero Action Team has
ever undertaken. Riding on the snow clad landscape is near to impossible due to
the slipperiness and uneven surface. It was a task that we knew has never been
done before on a mountain bike and we accepted the challenge to try and see our
limits. The ride was filled with some difficult situations and minor accidents
but we managed to achieve the goal that we had set before us. Though it took us
little over 3 hours but we were just to see but we are pleased that we
stretched our limits a little more.”
Hero Action Team is sponsored
by Hero Cycles and HASTPA (Himalyan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion
Association) in a joint effort to promote mountain biking in India.
