Delhi-based Bunty Godara has been doing
motorcycle stunts for more than a decade now. He has now become a professional
motorcycle stunt rider and is sponsored by names like K&N Filters, Axor
helmets and is part of TVS Racing motorcycle stunt riding team.
He has enthralled crowds at various shows
across the country. There is magic when he is astride his TVS Apache RTR 160
motorcycle which he has modified heavily for his stunt shows.
Each of the stunts has a different name.
They go much beyond the ordinary wheelies and stoppies! He has always been a
friend of Motown India and when we asked him to ride the humble TVS XL100
moped, he made no fuss. He did not smirk or feel the least offended that we had
asked him to ride the XL100. He readily agreed, displaying his refreshing
character of humility.
The TVS XL100 is a moped with great repute.
TVS Motor Company is the only company making these mopeds in India.
The TVS moped has a great legacy too. This
two-wheeler moped was born in 1979. The TVS XL, in fact, is the reason why TVS
Racing – India’s first factory racing team, came into existence. The TVS Racing
team participated in their initial races on the TVS 50 which dominated the
racetrack. Therefore, the vehicle is great combination of utility and has the
racing DNA embodied by TVS Racing.
The year 2020 saw the launch of TVS XL100 BS-VI with Eco Thrust Fuel Injection
(ET-Fi) Technology. The TVS XL100 today comes in three BS VI variants--TVS XL100 Heavy Duty i-TouchStart, TVS XL100
Heavy Duty i-TouchStart Special Edition and TVS XL100 Comfort i-TouchStart. We got
a chance to ride the Comfort variant. The XL100 Comfort i-TouchStart comes at
an ex showroom Delhi price of Rs 47,864/-
This moped is
powered by a 99.7cc petrol engine with auto gear. This engine delivers a
maximum power of 4.3hp @ 6000
rpm and a peak torque of 6.5 Nm @ 3500 rpm. With a kerb weight of 89 kg, this
machine has Telescopic spring type hydraulic suspension in front, while the
rear comprises of Swing arm with hydraulic shocks
But
this video is about Bunty’s stunt attempt with the XL100. Because of its very
low centre of gravity, thanks to the engine mounted way low, picking the
vehicle up did not come easy with Bunty, even though all his acrobatic stunts
were managed easily. Undeterred by the fact that he could not do a wheelie with
the XL100, he kept on trying, until he succeeded. He even managed a brief burn
out of the tyres, raising smoke like nobody’s business. The rest was all fun as
he enjoyed the humble two-wheeler to his heart’s content!
