Volkswagen Group India inaugurated its first Regional Training Centre in association with the Rayat Bahra Group at the Rayat & Bahra Centre of Excellence campus in Mohali. This is another step forward towards expansion of training facilities for Volkswagen Group dealerships. The training programme at the Regional Training Centre aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge on the latest Volkswagen automotive technologies to the employees at Volkswagen dealerships. Volkswagen Group India will also provide the Manpower Development Program known as Volkswagen Group Technical Education Program (VG-TAP) at the Mohali Campus as part of the vision to create a pool of industry ready professionals. Rayat & Bahra Centre of Excellence campus, Mohali is the first institute in India that Volkswagen Group India is associating with to implement the Regional Training Centre for employees at Volkswagen Group India dealerships. It is inaugurated as a part of the Volkswagen vision to equip the existing employees of Volkswagen Group dealerships in the region with the required skill-set to bring them at par with the Volkswagen Group international standards. As a part of the initiative, Volkswagen Group India has given the institute quality tools and equipment for training purposes. Under the Regional Training Centre, Volkswagen Group will conduct different technical training programmes for their dealership employees. Currently, training for Volkswagen Group dealership employees is available at the Volkswagen Plant in Chakan, Pune and Skoda Auto India Private Limited in Aurangabad Speaking on the occasion, Maik Stephan, Managing Director, Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited note, “The ever growing auto industry has made it imperative for good resources to be present in the industry. The Regional Training Centre will enable us to provide quality manpower at our dealerships which will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction. We have a network of over 160 dealers across the country that will benefit from this programme.” Volkswagen Group India also launched the 8th VG-TAP Centre at the Rayat & Bahra Centre of Excellence campus in Mohali. The VG-TAP would be an add-on certificate course for diploma students and ITI Students at Rayat Bahra University. VG-TAP has been launched with a view to generate trained manpower for the automobile industry. With VG-TAP, Volkswagen aims to also provide training on the latest Volkswagen automotive technologies to the University lecturers, who will further provide training to students. The students will also get an opportunity to gain experience of working on latest technology in the automobile industry when they work on cross sections of Volkswagen vehicle engines and aggregates provided to the Institute by Volkswagen Group. The initial intake will be 16 to 20 students for each batch. These students will be selected on merit basis and this course is also open to external students. Hildebrandt, Director Group Service, Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited said, “The Volkswagen Group Technical Education Program (VG-TAP) is a platform where the student’s skills are developed to reach the standards expected by the industry. The training curriculum is in sync with the demand of the current Indian market. After 32 weeks of in-house training and 8 weeks of internship, the students will get employment opportunities at our various dealerships across India, or can join any other organization. This is our 8th association across the country and we plan to extend it to 10 centres by the end of this year.” Shri Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman, Rayat-Bahra Group said, “It is a great honour for us to be associated with Volkswagen Group India and this step will ensure that advanced technical expertise will be imparted to our students by Europe’s biggest car maker. This initiative will definitely boost the technical know-how of the work-force in the industry and the academia giving them employment opportunities in the automobile sector.” This initiative was started with the intention of raising the skill level among the new recruits and bringing them at par with the international standards. The training will assist the students with knowledge on modern automobile technologies through a certified course. This course will bridge the gap between the course curriculum offered by the institutes and the requirement of the industry. At the end of the programme the students will also get an opportunity to work at Volkswagen Group dealerships across the country. Through this program Volkswagen Group India will provide support to Rayat Bahra Centre of Excellence in terms of trainings for the teachers, providing aggregates, cross sections of engines and vehicles for training purposes.
