chapter in touring and heritage motorcycling culture in India with the launch
of the new BMW K 1600 B and the new BMW R nineT Racer at the India Bike Week in
Goa.
Located centrally and
overlooking the riding track, the BMW Motorrad pavilion was created across two
levels with ample space for interaction and activities. The ground level
displayed 14 bikes - BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R 1200 R, BMW S 1000 R, BMW R nineT,
BMW R nineT Scrambler, BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, BMW R 1200 GS, BMW S 1000 XR,
BMW K 1600 GTL, BMW R 1200 RT, the new BMW K 1600 B and the new BMW R nineT
Racer. The latest range of BMW Motorrad accessories and lifestyle products was
also on display. The ‘R nine Café Bar’ and VIP zone on the terrace provided a
prime view of the entire event and was the perfect place to relax amidst the
buzz.
BMW K 1600 B: The new BMW K 1600 B is available as a
Completely Built Unit (CBU) and can be ordered from BMW Motorrad dealerships at
an ex-showroom price of –BMW K 1600 B Pro : Rs 29, 00, 00, ex-showroom. The new
BMW K 1600 B is available in Black Storm as metallic colour.
The teardrop-shaped silhouette
– typical of bagger – reaches the highest point at the front and the wide
characteristic styling underlines the undeniable muscularity. The windscreen
lends the motorcycle a greater presence and for effective wind and weather
protection, the side sections of the wind deflectors are stretched further
back. The fully chrome-plated silencers with additional chrome covers follow
the parallelism of the design concept, fitting in organically with the bagger
look. The striking rear section with LED indicators and brake lights integrated
into the cases defines the style. The new BMW K 1600 B fitted with footboards,
allows the rider to adopt a convenient ‘feet forward’ posture. The distinctive
BMW Motorrad 6-cylinder in-line engine has an output of 160 hp at 7750 rpm,
generating a maximum torque of 175 Nm at 5250 rpm.
BMW R NINET RACER: The new BMW R
nineT Racer is available as a CBU (Completely built-up) at an ex-showroom price
of Rs 17,30,000. The design of the new BMW R nineT Racer unmistakably takes
inspiration from the 70s motorsports. Crouched, compact and elongated, it
conveys a sense of old-school sporty aspiration with its strikingly short
half-fairing and one-man hump seat. The low-slung
handlebars along with high-set
footrests and rider seat slightly raised at the rear complete the sporty yet
comfortable seating position.
The frame finished in
Aluminium Silver prominently presents a striking contrast with the black
drivetrain. Combined with a 6-speed transmission, the powerful air/oil-cooled
1,170 cc boxer engine produces an output of 110 hp at 7,750 rpm for a highly
dynamic power delivery, even at low speeds. The exhaust system has an electric
servomotor and an acoustic valve for that sonorous boxer sound.
