Senior officials of Maruti
Suzuki India Limited along with Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and
Highways, and Shipping released a coffee table book titled “The Golden Quadrilateral”, India’s
first modern highway network in the
Capital on July 22, 2016. The book is authored by Bob Rupani, a veteran
automotive journalist.
The book release was done by
Chief Guest Nitin Gadkari along with RC Bhargava, Chairman and Kenichi Ayukawa,
Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki. The foreword of the book has been
penned by Bhargava.
The Golden Quadrilateral
highway, a vision of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India, lies
at the core of this transformation. The modern, multilane and world quality
highway has had a significant positive impact on economic growth, efficiency
and investment. By facilitating faster transport of goods, raw materials,
people and products, the Golden Quadrilateral has touched the economic, social
and cultural life of India. The highway network also resulted in direct and
indirect job creation.
The coffee table book is a
chronicle of Rupani’s journey and his experience of travelling across the
modern highway, driving Maruti Suzuki vehicles. The colourful coffee table book
captures the moments, moods, spirit and life on this massive 5,856 Kms long
highway network. It displays the old and new India, the growing aspirations and
the achievements of its people.
