The Big Bang 13th
edition of the Auto Expo-The Motor Show 2016 gets off to an exciting start at
the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida on the outskirts of Delhi, from February 5
to 9, 2016. The two days of February 3 and 4 are reserved exclusively for the
media and all the vehicle launches are slated for these two days. The equally
prestigious Auto Components Show in the meantime takes off from February 4 to
7, 2016 at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Motown India magazine, part of Motown Publications Pvt Ltd, is one
of the media partners to both the prestigious shows. Motown India has been
allotted stall number N32 in Hall No. 16 at the India Expo Mart in Greater
Noida, while for the Auto Show -Component, it has been allotted stall number
D26 in Hall No. 7D.
Days before the exposition
begins, the air gets thick with some high ticket launches which starts with the
revealing and India debut of America’s most popular and iconic muscle car, the
Ford Mustang. January 28 is the red letter for this US based company Ford
India. Apart from the launch of a new Bajaj motorcycle and the Royal Enfield
Himalayan, the following days, February 2 marks the world premier of the
Volkswagen Ameo car, a “Make in India” from the German company which has of
late been mired in a massive controversy over its diesel emissions related
scam.
Ford is set to launch the
right hand drive Mustang on January 28, 2016 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
and it is expected to be a massive glittering event. It is to be seen which
engine is going to power this iconic car. Engine options currently available
abroad in this car include a 306 bhp 2.3-litre, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine,
a 296bhp 3.7-litre V6, and a 437bhp 5.0-litre V8. There is also a coupe version
of this car. The rear wheel driven car is expected to come fitted with a
six-speed automatic transmission gear box. The car will definitely be shown at
the expo. While many of the vehicle makers are waiting for the February 3 and 4
to launch their products at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Ford India
will be doing so a few days earlier.
The Auto Expo, jointly
organised by ACMA,CII, and SIAM, and accredited by OICA is expected to see the
unveiling of at least 80 new vehicles.
It is expected that there will
be around 1.20-1.25 lakh visitors reaching the Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2016
everyday, during the five public days, which will be almost 20pc more than the
last edition. The previous edition saw 55 exhibitors, which has crossed 65 for
the upcoming edition of the show.
Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2016 will witness participation of
vehicle manufacturers such as Ashok Leyland, Audi India, BMW India, Datsun,
Fiat India, Ford India, General Motors, Honda Cars India, Hyundai Motor India,
Isuzu Motors India, Jaguar Land Rover, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki
India, Mercedes-Benz India, Nissan Motor India, Renault India, Scania
Commercial Vehicles India, SML Isuzu, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, VE
Commercial Vehicles, Volkswagen India etc. In the two-wheeler segment, Hero
MotoCorp, India Yamaha, Mahindra 2 wheelers, Piaggio Vehicles, Suzuki
Motorcycle India, Triumph Motorcycles India, TVS Motor Company etc. will be
showcasing their latest products and technologies.
Apart from the above brands,
there will be some new entrants in this edition like Abarth, BMW Motorrad,
Jeep, DSK Benelli, Polaris, Indian Motorcycle, etc.
Along with the vehicle
manufacturers, Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2016 will also have high end Bicycles,
Tyres and Tubes, Fuel Companies, Automotive Design and Technology, Engineering
and IT for Automobile Companies, Institutions, Universities, Auto Insurance
Companies, and Media & Auto Portals/ Publications.
Like in the past, there will
be a pavilion of vintage cars and focused activity area where outdoor
activities, such as safety riding, driving simulators, etc., will take
place. The excitement doesn’t stops
there as everyday there will be various groups of Super bike owners from NCR,
who will be riding to Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2016 to display their big machines and will also give
tips to Motor show visitors on safe riding and advantages of wearing proper
safety gears during bike rides. There will be a ‘Bollywood corner’ in Hall 16
which would showcase the memorable cars and bikes used in Bollywood movies. In
the same hall, there will be a pavilion of supercars and superbikes for the
visitors to admire.
The venue is scheduled to get
a host of renowned food brands to cater to the varied taste buds of the
attendees. There would be two restaurants from the Taj and the Radisson Hotels.
Bringing flavors to the plate would be major quick-service restaurants ranging
from international majors Dominos, Dunkin Donuts, KFC, Subway and Pizza Hut to
local giants like Chaayos, Chai Point, Chokola, 34 chowrangee lane, Baker
Street, Punjab Grill, Kebab Express etc. The food court area has been ramped up
by 1000 Sqmts.
The venue shall be made more
accessible to the people at large as free frequent shuttle service would be
provided from Botanical Garden metro station, the nearest metro station from
the venue. DTC buses, like in the previous edition, would play a major part in
making the event a major success.
Tickets of the Auto Expo - The
Motor Show 2016 are available for booking for the people at large. The tickets
can be booked online at www.bookmyshow.com. The tickets are priced at INR 650
for the Business hours during weekdays (10 AM – 1 PM), INR 300 for General
public hours during weekdays (1 PM – 6 PM), and INR 400 for weekends (10 AM – 7
PM).

Big ticket
launches
During the expo, there will be
a massive flurry of activities in terms of big ticket launches. From cars and
pick-ups, visitors will get to see new motorcycles an scooters from the several
companies taking part in the expo. General
Motors India will reveal two new concept vehicles, it will also ahve on
display showstoppers such as the Corvette and Camaro sports cars, Chevrolet
Colorado pick-up as well as the recently-launched Trailblazer and the new Cruze
with styling and feature upgrades, besides the Spin, which is slated to be
launched in 2017.
Mahindra & Mahindra will unveil the XUV Aero, a concept vehicle, in the presence of Anand
Mahindra, Chairman of M&M, Dr Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, M&M and
Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), M&M. The company
will also be displaying the Ssangyopng Tivoli, its electric vehicle portfolio
including the e20 Sports and a range of commercial vehicles in the presence of
Jeeto’s brand ambassador Manoj Bajpai.
Mercedes-Benz India will unveil the S-Cabriolet and the latest SUV
from its stable, the GLC, apart from displaying other products and technology.
Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) India will be introducing the
Jeep brand to India and will be unveiling the rugged Jeep Wrangler and the
mighty Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Tata Motors will unfold an exciting line-up of over 20, modern and
contemporary Passenger and Commercial Vehicles. Tata Motors, with the largest
of all OEM stalls, at the Greater Noida Auto Expo, will take its customer
experience to the next level with highly captivating and engaging zones, the
company claimed.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will not only be showcasing new
models and concepts at the show, but will also unveil a new-generation vehicle
platform and a new engine. These will take forward the company’s technology
story which has gathered pace in recent years.
Among the vehicles to be
unveiled will be the SUV Vitara Brezza, a bold, sporty and masculine vehicle
with wide 16” alloys nested in distinct squarish wheel arches, bold front
fascia and definitive and dynamic side profile.
Audi India is expected to showcase the new R8. The 2nd generation,
sporty spearhead all new Audi R8 will be unveiled at Auto Expo. The company
will also showcase the Audi A8 L Security. Showcased at IAA 2015, the Audi
armoured security sedan is now even more robust and the vehicle is certified to
the requirements of resistance class VR 9.
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has announced its line-up of
production and concept-models to be exhibited at the Auto Expo 2016 – The Motor
Show. The new generation Crossover
Utility Vehicle Honda BR-V will make its India premiere at the motor show. With
the booth concept of “Accelerate with Honda”, HCIL will showcase a wide range
of exhibits including models that will be launched in India in future and
racing machines that pursue excellence in driving performance. The much loved Honda ASIMO (Advanced Step in
Innovative Mobility) is the world’s most advanced humanoid robot and will
enthrall the audiences at the motor show showcasing cutting-edge agility and
intelligence technologies.
Nissan will showcase models that aim to ignite the excitement of
fans, auto enthusiasts and cricket fanatics at the Delhi Auto Expo. In
celebration of the forthcoming ICC World Twenty20 2016 the Nissan booth will
feature a special interactive zone for cricket fans. Two exciting ICC World
Twenty20 limited editions of Terrano and Micra, along with a Terrano Special
Version and the sports version of Sunny, will be on the Nissan stand to thrill
petrol-heads and showgoers alike. Nissan will showcase its advanced technology
prowess at the pavilion with Eporo robots, which are designed to travel in a
group that mimics the behavioral patterns of a school of fish in avoiding
obstacles without colliding with each other. Eporo technology was created as
part of Nissan’s development of autonomous drive.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), theme ‘Experience Hyundai´ will
showcase many exciting and innovative products from Hyundai‘s international and
domestic line up on 12 zones with 17 products. Hyundai will be unveiling its
Global SUV, Hyundai Tucson and showcasing global products signifying a leap in
the global SUV line up engineering process at Hyundai. The company will also
showcase its high performance sub-brand N. The N brand is a result of intensive
testing and product development. It will also showcase an all-new global luxury
brand ‘Genesis’.
Datsun’s line-up for Auto Expo 2016 will feature vehicle displays
celebrating its storied past coupled with a view toward future possibilities.
The brand’s potential is embodied in an exciting new showcar – the Datsun
GO-cross Concept, making its Indian debut at the Delhi Auto Expo. Sharing space
with it will be the Datsun Bluebird 1600 SSS (510) rally car, which brought
motorsport glory to the brand in the early 1970s.
Jaguar Land Rover, owned by Tata Motors, will unveil the new jaguar
XE and the new Range Rover SV Autobiography
On the two wheeler front too,
there will be a lo9t of new launches. The much anticipated BMW-TVS
motorcycle G310R will be unveiled by TVS
and BMW, besides other models by TVS
Motor.
UM Motorcycles - the Indian arm of the American motorcycle maker,
UM International, LLC along with Lohia Auto will unveil its Renegade range
of cruiser motorcycles: Renegade Sport S, Renegade Commando and Renegade
Classic.
For Mahindra Two Wheelers, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group
will be unveil the Mahindra Racing 2016 Moto3 motorcycle, apart from other
products from the company’s product portfolio.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has announced
10 new models at the Auto Expo which includes six Indian launches and 4 concept
models.
For Honda, motorsport is a “lab on wheels”
where superior technology developed and tested at the rigors of racetrack gets
filtered in Honda’s production motorcycles running on roads. Communicating this
philosophy will be Honda’s booth concept of “Race Track to Road”. Honda’s brand ambassadors Akshay Kumar and
Taapsee Pannu are also expected to make their presence at the show.
AUTO
COMPONENTS SHOW
While the auto exposition will
see lot of exciting and desirable launches and displays, the components show at
Pragati Maidan promises to be sober, dignified and tech-savvy. In contrast to
the glitz and glamour of the Auto Expo, the Auto Components Show is all about
new technological innovations and intense B2B meetings and networking. Spread
over 80,000 square metres in 18 halls, the components show will see the
participation from 1500 companies of which 50 are new entrants. Around 900 Indian companies (prominent among
them being Avtec, Shriram Pistons, BorgWarner, etc) and 600 International
exhibitors will attend the show. Seven exclusive International pavilions from
China, Canada, Germany, Japan, Taiwan (ROC), South Korea and the UK will display an array of components. Overseas
buying delegations are expected from around 15 countries. Dedicated pavilions
for bearings and garage equipment and live demonstrations of advance
technologies will be showcased. With a view to encourage an innovation driven
mind- set amongst the youth, “ Passion for innovation” – a contest for
Engineering students, is also being organised on the sidelines of the event.
Continuing the endeavour to share knowledge and build awareness, ACMA’s
campaign against counterfeit products, the Asli Naqli show, and other focused
conferences will be organised in the upcoming edition of the Expo.
Addressing journalists in the
capital, Arvind Balaji, President, ACMA, remarked, “The auto component industry
is making a conscious effort to graduate from Build to Print to creation of
Intellectual Property. In line with ACMA’s theme for this year - Make Quality
& Technology in India, a unique Innovation Pavilion will be set up at the
Auto Expo 2016 - Components which will have on display Auto Components
designed, developed and validated in India.
The primary objective of this pavilion is to showcase the product
development prowess of the component sector as also help deepen the automotive
value chain in the country. Several new components are also expected to be
launched at the individual company stalls at the Auto Expo.”
Deep Kapuria, Chairman Trade
Fair Council, CII stressed on R & D and Innovation as a growth driver for
the automotive sector, Auto Expo would pave way for more collaborative approach between the
various elements of the value chain – the component manufacturers, OEMs,
Machine Tool Suppliers, and the raw material industry. “If we have to grow from
being locally competitive to be globally competitive, our relationship must
graduate from being transactional to a symbiotic one,” he added.

up exciting launches: Innovations

Aligner in-built in Lift – a most awaited equipment in garage industry that
saves space and is very user friendly. Tyre Pressure Monitoring Gauge is one
another indigenous product to be launched by Manatec at the show.
BorgWarner
range of fuel-efficient technologies : In Hall 18FF, Booth 26, BorgWarner
will display a broad range of fuel-efficient technologies. The company’s
portfolio includes state-of-the-art exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems
such as valves and coolers as well as hybrid tube EGR coolers featuring
BorgWarner’s latest EGR valves for commercial vehicles. In addition, advanced
turbocharging technologies, engine timing systems such as the gasoline timing
system for Hyundai’s Kappa I4, a variable cam timing (VCT) technology, diesel
cold-start technology and thermal management solutions will be exhibited.
Avtec,
part of the CK Birla group will be displaying at its stall its BS VI petrol and
diesel engines, apart from a plethora of cutting endge engine and transmission
components and aggregates. Avtec with its manufacturing units at Pithampur,
Hosur and Chennai, offers solutions to suit diverse automotive applications
through proprietary and contract manufacturing of engines, transmissions and
critical components and aggregates. The BS VI engines are bound to attract a
lot of OEM technology heads to the Avtec Stall No.2 in Hall 12. With the
government deciding to advance the BS VI emission norms to year 2020, OEMs
would only be eager to buy a BS VI ready engine off the shelf.
