Lenovo owned Motorola added two new members in the Moto G family today by launching the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus smartphones in New Delhi. The Moto G5S has been priced at Rs 13,999 and Motorola has slashed the price of the existing Moto G5 Plus by a thousand rupees in order to price the G5S Plus at Rs 15,999 (which is what the Moto G5 Plus used to cost). These 'special edition' phones get bigger displays and a metal unibody design among other changes.
The biggest highlight can be found on the Moto G5S Plus, which is the first Moto mobile in India to sport a dual camera setup. It gets two 13MP sensors along with an LED flash housed in the circular protrusion at the back. This dual camera setup allows for a great depth of field effect and even gets a dedicated image editor for photos taken in the 'Depth Mode'.
The Depth Editor allows you to shift the focus of the image, turn the background black & white while the subject stays in full colour and even remove the background completely. The front of the G5S Plus comes with an 8MP shooter with a flash. The front camera also gets a professional mode and a panorama mode that stitches three pictures together for a wider angle selfie. The Moto G5S gets a single 16MP rear facing camera and a 5MP shooter at the front. Both cameras get an LED flash.
Both the Moto G5S and the G5S Plus now come in an all aluminium body and get Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for their displays. The devices come with a 3,000mAh battery and support TurboCharge that can give you 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging. The display size has gone up from 5inches on to 5.2 inches on the G5S and on the G5S Plus it has gone up from 5.2 inches to 5.5 inches. However, both of them get a FullHD resolution. Being a Moto device, the phones come with an almost stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will be updated to the latest version of the OS sooner than others.
Motorola has decided to launch the phones in just one variant in India. Thus the G5S comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM and the G5S Plus comes with the same 4GB RAM but a bigger 64GB internal space. The memory can be further expanded up to 128GB. Processing duties on the Moto G5S have been taken care by a Snapdragon 430 octa-core CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz while the G5S Plus get a Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz octa-core processor.
The Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus can be bought from Amazon and also through Motorola's Moto Hub stores.
