The design of the speaker is unlike your run on the mill speakers.
With a half oval like outline, there is a hole in the centre that has a rubber
like coating through which you can see the light. The design being rather
unconventional, whether you like it or
not is your own opinion. The front of the speaker has holes like a grille for the
sound to pass through. I would have liked if the same was applied to the back
as well because the plain white plastic at the back shows the silhouette of the
parts inside, once you switch on the lights. The edges get a coloured finish in
one of three colours - Gold, Silver or Grey. The back gets the inputs for USB,
Aux and microSD card along with the power switch and charging LED indicator.
There are 3 buttons on top of the speaker. The centre one being the play/pause
toggle and the ones on the left and right for volume increase/ next track and
volume decrease/previous track respectively.
Coming to what all is 'amazing' about the speaker, it gets two touch
toggles on the top, alongside the physical buttons. These invisible touch
sensitive areas let you change the colour of the light or even switch it on or
off. If you want a greater control on the lights then there is an app available
for both Android and iOS devices. Through the app you can change the colour of
the lighting, toggle between different light modes like breath, colour cycle,
react to music and even change the light intensity. This really adds a nice
touch to the RGB customisation which is nice to see in a device that comes at
such an affordable price. One thing I did struggle with was finding the app as
the exact name of the app is not mentioned in the user manual and only two,
rather hard to scan, tiny barcodes are given for iOS and Android. Zebronics
could have mentioned the name of the app in the manual itself. Brodu Music App
is the application that you should be searching for in case you are looking for
it.
You can play your media files by using the 3.5mm audio jack, TF card
input or Bluetooth, which has a 10 meter range. There is a single large 10W
driver at the front of the speaker that fires sound at some very satisfying
levels . This is easily the stuff for small parties and gatherings. The
Zebronics Amazer is one of the few portable speakers with which I have no
problems when it comes to bass output. At higher levels you can experience all
the bass that today's EDM tracks are filled with. The mids and high are also
decently reproduced and all is well except for the distortion that is experienced
at higher loudness levels. This is my only issue with the Amazer in terms of
audio output. Wwhile it produces quality sound that is loud but if you try and
hit the its maximum potential then you can hear the speaker struggle.
The battery inside is a rather tiny 1200mAh one that takes about 2
hours to charge and then gives a playback of roughly 2.5 hours. This is
somewhat disappointing unless you do not mind having the device plugged into a
power source at all times.
Zebronics Amazer is priced at Rs 3,999 but I saw a couple of online
sellers offering the device for about Rs 2,100. Regardless of these prices, the
Amazer delivers a very satisfying experience when it comes to sound delivery
and the vast control over the lighting also makes it akin to the experience you
get while playing around with RGB software offered with latest high end PC
components. That is not to say that there are no rough edges here. The
distortion in the sound at extreme levels and the average build quality are
some things that reduce the speaker's charm. The sound however is still quite
enough within that limit and the bass output left me satisfied because after
all 'It's all about that bass'!
