A lot of people, who wade through the busy schedules of city life, want to stay fit and healthy but fail to do so due to the lack of a firm reminder or any means of measuring how much have they worked towards their goal of achieving the much sought after 'fitness'. It is in situations like these that smart fitness bands come into play. The ZEB-FIT500 from Zebronics is one such 'smart watch' that can help you keep track of your daily routines and push you to do more.
The ZEB-0FIT500 gets a rubber strap which comes in 3 different colours - Red, Black and Blue. The display cluster itself is black, at the centre of which you will find the actual 0.49 inch display. The font and size of the text makes full use of the screen space available so that the text is clearly readable . Outdoor legibility however is average and you will have to either cover or look closely at the display to make out what is there. Below the display is a touch sensitive button that can be used to cycle between the different display and you also have a physical button the right of the watch to do the same.
This fitness band from Zebronics comes with a heart rate monitor and is capable of recording your heart rate automatically as well as manually. In the automatic mode the band records your heart rate every 5 minutes and you can also check your current heart rate on the ZEB-FIT500 as well. The fitness band can be paired with your smartphone via the ZEB FIT app which requires that you have IOS 7.1 or Android 4.1 and above. Once paired to the app via Bluetooth you can keep a track of your daily metrics and even see your performance over a period of a month. The app is very simple and easy to use and the first thing that you will have to do is actually pair your FIT500 to the app and feed in your details so that it can start displaying accurate readings. The fit band itself can display things like time, date, battery percentage, steps taken, calories burnt and distance covered.
Coming to the accuracy of the stats displayed, the steps taken and distance covered were very accurate, the number of calories burnt were also in line with the physical activity done. The heart rate monitor although felt a little off but by a very minute difference. What I liked about the heart rate monitor was that it did not require that I stay still. It could calculate my heart's BPM even while I was on the move. This is great for people who would like to monitor their heart rate while exercising. Additionally the device can give you sedentary reminders so that you do not forget that you are still falling short of your daily goals and need to start moving. As the device also monitors your sleep cycles you can use it to set alarms which once set, make the band buzz silently at the appropriate time. Furthermore the ZEB-FIT500 can be configured to show you caller IDs, message alerts and even use the band as a trigger to take pictures from your smartphone.
The ZEB-FIT500 has a 70mAh battery that can take about 40 minutes to charge from 0 to 100pc and then last for almost 10 days. While this may not seems like a very good mileage, on must consider that the fit band comes with a heart rate monitor that keeps on measuring your heart rate every 5 minutes. The fitness band also comes with an anti lost alert and find phone function. One thing that I really like about this band is that even though it is not fully waterproof, it is water resistant to some extent. In my usage, there were times when I spilled a few drops of water on the ZEB-FIT500 but despite that the device worked flawlessly.
The ZEB-FIT500 is priced at Rs 3,999 and offers a lot of useful and almost acurate metrics for you to keep track of and improve over a period of time. The decent battery life and sleek form factor make this device a great buy if you consider buying a fitness band.
