Many a times we lose our premium smartphones or break them and need a temporary or cheap replacement. Or maybe you need to buy your 'not so tech-savvy' parents a new mobile. Perhaps you want to gift your teenage child a smartphone but do not wish to spend too much, then you would probably be looking at something less than Rs 5000. We have compiled a list of 5 smartphones that come under this price bracket.
5) Lava P7+
The Lava P7+ comes at a price of Rs 4999 and packs a 5 inch HD IPS display with a 2.5D curved glass. It runs Android 6.0 and is powered by a 1.3GHz MeadiaTek quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. While there is 8GB of internal storage, you can add a microSD card of up to 64GB. There is an 8MP shooter at the back and a 5MP camera for selfies at the front. Both the cameras get LED flashes. A 2500mAh battery is present to power your device through the day. However this mobile does not support 4G which might be a deal breaker for some.
4) Intex Cloud Q11
The Cloud Q11 from Intex has a large 5.5inch 1280X720p display with an IPS panel and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). There is a 1.3GHz quad core MT6580 processor with Mali 400 GPU and 1GB RAM. You get 8GB of total internal storage with an option to expand it up to 64GB using a microSD card. You get an 8MP rear and 5MP front facing camera. The device also packs a 2800mAh batter but sadly this dual SIM device also does not support 4G. The Intex Cloud Q11 is priced at Rs 4499.
3) LYF Flame 8
The biggest selling point of the LYF Flame 8 is the fact that it is 4G VoLTE enabled and also comes with the Jio SIM offer. There is a 1.1GHz Snapdargon 210 quad core processor with 1GB RAM under the hood. There is 8GB internal storage which can be expanded to a staggering 128GB. The only let down is the 4.5 inch FWVGA display which is less than what we are used to these days but is a good display on its own. The 2000mAh battery is going to be more than enough for this display size. In the camera department you get an 8MP AF rear camera and a 5MP FF front facing camera. The device runs on a relatively old Android 5.1 Lollipop.
2) XOLO ERA 1X
This device simply blew us away due to the amount of features it has for just Rs 4999. It packs 4G VoLTE connectivity and comes with a 5 inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM and 8GB ROM. The device runs Android Marshmallow and has a 2500mAh battery. An 8MP front and 5MP rear shooter have been provided with slow motion, time lapse and live photos capability. The only let down here is the 2 point multi-touch capability but under most circumstances it will not be a hindrance.
1) Yu Yunique Plus
Our top pick for the list is Yu Yunique Plus which is priced at Rs 4999. This 4G enabled device is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. There is 2GB of RAM to allow for a great multitasking experience. There is a 4.7 inch HD display that is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The 8GB of internal storage can be expanded up to 32GB. However this device runs Android Lollipop with no news of updates till now. While you get an 8MP camera at the rear that can shoot FullHD videos, the front houses a 2MP camera.
