Vinod, Aggarwal, CEO, VE
Commercial Vehicles said, “The worst recession for the commercial vehicle
industry is behind us now. All segments of Commercial Vehicle industry are
already growing except trucks used in construction sites. As we move forward, a
lot more growth is expected to come from demand from two sectors- Mining and
Construction. Already, the coal mining industry is showing handsome growth with
significant focus of the Government to increase domestic production of coal.
Furthermore, with a number of infrastructure projects under implementation and
the Government’s actions to remove hurdles; construction segment also is likely
to show good growth in the next 2-3 years. With launch of the latest technology
products in our Pro 8000 & 6000 series, we are now in a relatively
advantageous position to take benefit of this expected revival in mining and
construction segment.”
Pierre Jean Verge Salamon,
President of Volvo Group Trucks India, said, “The VE Commercial vehicles Joint
venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors has been extremely successful
for the last 7 years due to strong collaboration and synergies between the two
companies. Volvo Group has made huge investments in India and infused global
technology at local cost levels to modernise the Eicher range and brought in
best practices in quality and production systems. For example, the state of the
art engine plant at Pithampur supplies engines not only for Eicher in domestic
market but also exports Euro 6 emission standard engines to Europe.’’
“The Pro 6000 and Pro8000
range have been developed with strong collaboration between VECV and Volvo
Group leveraging on each other’s strengths to deliver the desired value to the
customers in the tough construction and mining applications. I am confident
that VECV continues to grow stronger with the introduction of the new range
