Scania Commercial Vehicles,
which has been present in India since 2007 is the true pioneer of biofuels
solutions. Scania introduced its first revolutionary ethanol powered bus in
Sweden more than 20 years ago. On August 22, 2014 it launched its ethanol
fuelled “Green Bus” in Nagpur for the first time in the country. The Pilot case
of ethanol bus was flagged off by Gadkari. Over the years, Scania has scored
tremendous success from its ethanol fuelled buses across nations and with the
launch of Green Bus in India, Scania has instilled a promise to conserve the
environment and to provide sustainable transportation solutions to the Indian
public. This new milestone is a testimony to Scania’s credibility in the
Biofuels segment.
Elaborating on the ICEPT 2015
and Scania’s participation, Grundstromer said, “It is a very ambitious
initiative by ASRTU to host a conference to promote latest trends in public
transport services and create awareness on the need for sustainable transport
system in India. Scania strives to minimise the environmental impact of their
products, both during manufacture and during use. The company does this by
taking into account the environmental effects throughout the life cycle of our
trucks, buses and engines. The Scania product concept and production system are
characterised by resource efficiency and the principle of caution. Their
environmental work is about economising resources and energy as well as on
meeting customer demands such as low fuel consumption and emissions. Scania’s
recipe for sustainable transport combines tradition with fresh thinking –
renewable fuels, hybrid technology, a focus on driver training and greater
efficiency in the transport system. Scania has some 20 years of experience in
developing vehicles that use alternative fuels such as ethanol. Scania is
certified according to the ISO 140001 standard, and the environmental policy
applies to all of the company’s activities.”
