Scania Commercial Vehicles
India Pvt. Ltd., a leading premium commercial vehicles and engines
manufacturer, displayed ethanol engines for the first time in India at the
Busworld 2015 Exposition, being held in Mumbai between April 28 and 30, 2015.
The company also showcased its premium range of Metrolink 13.7 m coach and
ethanol-powered Green Bus.
Busworld also served as the
perfect venue for the delivery of Scania’s 13.7 m premium Metrolink coaches to
Kaushik Logistics, Hebron Transports and Transit Logistics. Kaushik Global
Logistics will ply, service and manage the buses for UPSRTC, paving the way for
Scania’s entry into north India.
Speaking on the occasion
Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India, and Senior Vice President
noted: “We are delighted to participate in Busworld, this is an excellent
platform for showcasing our products and services. In this edition of Busworld,
we are displaying our ethanol engine for the first time in India and showcasing
India’s first ethanol-powered Green Bus and the market leading premium
intercity bus - the Metrolink 13.7 m coach. Keeping in mind India’s need for a
sustainable transport system, we will bring more products that run on
alternative fuel and help drive the Swach Bharat campaign and the concept of
Smart Cities.”

last year created an interest among various Transport Ministries, general
public and stakeholders. Our sustainable transport solutions will promote
empowerment of local farmers, create job opportunities, contribute to the GDP
and conserve environment by cutting carbon emissions and using waste for
extracting bio-fuels.”
Scania had received orders for
14 buses from Hebron Transports, eight buses from Transit Logistics and 20 from
Kaushik Global Logistics (KGL). With the delivery of buses to Transit
Logistics, Scania completes its entry into the state of Telangana as well.
On the bus handover,
Grundströmer said: “The delivery of Metrolink Coaches has helped us accomplish
four things: We have a presence in north India; we have an association with
UPSRTC; we have entered the state of Telangana and finally our expansion in the
southern market continues. Scania Metrolink is designed to withstand Indian
conditions and comes with progressive safety elements, refined suspension for
comfort and has appealing luxury features. Our products help the fleet
operators in achieving most competitive Total Operating Economy giving them
edge over other vehicles in terms of maintenance, operating cost and overall
revenue generation. With our recently inaugurated bus plant in Narsapura, we
will localise our products and ensure our contribution towards the Make in
India initiative.”
Scania Metrolink comes with
refined suspension and breaking systems for safety and comfort. The Metrolink
buses are packed with uncompromised safety features such as Fleet Management
System (FMS), speed limit compliant to state regulations, six emergency exits
with twelve hammers, emergency doors, 100% fire retardant bus body, and Blended
Retarder: technology that keeps the service breaks cold for full emergency
performance. Metrolink also complies with R66 Standard, best possible safety
even in case of vehicle roll over and accident, tested and certified by TUV,
Germany.
