AtulGreentech Private Limited (Atul), Valeo India Private Limited (Valeo) and Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) have entered into a partnership to initiate the commercialisation of a new concept of electric three wheelers equipped with a quick and easy battery exchange technology for electric vehicles (EVs). The collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and convenience of electric vehicles by reducing the downtime required to recharge batteries.
HEID’s advanced battery technology, combined with Valeo's compact Powertrain unit and Atul’s expertise in three-wheeled electric vehicles, will provide a reliable and sustainable solution for urban transport. This initiative is expected to accelerate the adoption of EVs in India, contribute to emission reduction and promote cleaner and greener mobility solutions in the region.
The 3-wheeled Mobili Swap vehicle, designed for passengers, has a certified range of 79 km per exchange. As for Energie Swap, also a 3-wheeled vehicle, it meets the needs of freight and offers a reliable certified range of 74 km per exchange. The launch of these vehicles in the Cargo and Passenger segments aims to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency. With interchangeable battery vehicles, fleet users can expect major benefits such as improved vehicle uptime as batteries can be swapped in few minutes, reduced maintenance costs and a competitive edge in driving towards a greener and more sustainable future. This alliance reaffirms our commitment to environmental management and innovation in the transport sector.
“Interchangeable products will revolutionise the electric vehicle sector. They will increase customer revenues by eliminating the need to recharge batteries. An extensive network of exchange stations will reduce range anxiety. As the battery remains the property of the company, customers will benefit from lower vehicle costs and reduced warranty obligations”, stated Vijay Kedia, Director of Atul Auto
Commenting on the partnership, Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director, Valeo India, said, “This three-way engagement between Valeo India Private Limited, AtulGreentech Private Limited and Honda Power Pack Energy India brings together the expertise required to accelerate the electrification of three-wheeler vehicles and reduce CO 2 emissions. Valeo's advanced electric powertrain technology adapted to the Indian market with our strong engineering and local manufacturing expertise will help strengthen our partnership in this growing market.”
Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) is a pioneering initiative to revolutionise electric vehicle charging through battery swap technology. “HEID utilises safety and reliable swappable batteries that are implemented with Honda's long-accumulated technology and know-how from the four-wheeled vehicle development. The combination of our batteries and Valeo's cutting-edge power train technology provides an automobile-grade electric solution in the e-three-wheeler market,” noted Dr. Tomohide Haraguchi, Vice President of HEID.
