Volvo Trucks India, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd.(VECV),a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, is showcasing its Volvo FM 4X2 electric highway tractor truck at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in New Delhi. This is in line with Volvo Group and VECV’s commitment to carbon neutrality by offering various alternate fuel solutions to customers.

Last year we successfully demonstrated LNG trucks in India and are ready for commercial sales of these LNG -powered trucks. We are now in advanced trials in real-world Indian conditions for ourElectrictrucksinexpresscargomovement.Uponsuccessfulcompletion,we will be offering these to our customers. While our clean diesel and LNG-powered trucks will be used for longer range applications, the Volvo FM 4X2 Electric Highway Tractor will serve shorter runs and regional haul,” said Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd.
Globally, Volvo has delivered over 5000 medium and heavy-duty electric trucks in various applications. In India, Volvo will initially offer the versatile FM 4x2 electric tractor for express logistics, container movement, car carriers, reefers, and mineral transport. The electric truck currently has a GCW of 44 tons. With motor capacity of 490 kW and battery capacity of 540 kWh, the truck offers a range of250- 300 km depending on the route and load. The alternate fuel solutions from Volvo trucks also feature cutting edge ADAS features like Forward collision warning with Emergency braking, driver alert system, and lane changing support.
With the introduction of electric trucks, Volvo will become the only truck brand supplying and supporting heavy-duty diesel, LNG and electric trucks in India, in line with its core values of safety, quality and environmental care.
