Switch Mobility Ltd, the EV arm of Ashok Leyland and Optare of the UK, has launched its next-generation electric bus platform ‘Switch EiV 12’ for the Indian market.
The company showcased two electric bus variants based on the platform - EiV 12 low floor and EiV 12 standard. Switch Mobility, the next-generation carbon neutral electric bus and light commercial vehicle company has an order book of over 600 buses.
The Switch EiV range of buses is created for a wide range of applications such as intra-city, intercity, staff, school and tarmac. These electric buses are equipped with new-generation modular batteries with advanced lithium-ion NMC chemistry offering up to 300 kms/day with single charge, and up to 500 kms/day with dual gun fast charging.
These electric buses offer proprietary, connected technology solutions, ‘Switch iON’, enabling remote, real-time diagnostics and monitoring services, as well as world-class digital battery management tools.
The EiV 12 Ultra low floor bus is meant for intra city, tarmac, staff use while the Standard variant is meant for inter City as well as school use etc.
Both have a permanent magnet synchronous AC motor producing 235 ke peal, 140kw continuous and 3100Nm peak. They have a full air suspension with disc brakes at front and rear. The standard variant has drum at the rear.
