DOOSAN BOBCAT
INDIA launches Volvo Pentapowered air compressors
Two
new air compressors from Doosan Bobcat India are benefitting from fuel
efficiency, productivity, reliability, long service intervals – as well as
reduced noise and vibrations – thanks to Volvo Penta engines. The Doosan
compressors will be used in a range of demanding applications, such as well
drilling and mining.
Doosan
Bobcat India has chosen Volvo Penta engines to power two of its new air
compressor models, both of which were launched at the Excon 2019. A 13-litre,
536hp Volvo Penta D13 diesel engine is providing power to Doosan Bobcat India’s
new PA536 air compressor, and an 8-litre, 320hp Volvo Penta D8 diesel engine
has been installed in its SHP750 air compressor.
Air
compressors are popular in India, where the extremely highly pressurized air
they create is
often
used to ‘drill’ boreholes. “We are happy to be supplying engines to Doosan
Bobcat India,” says Miron Thoms, Vice President and Head of Volvo Penta India.
“We were confident that our engines would be successful in air compressor
applications and also offer real added value to the customer. With good fuel
efficiency and careful engine management, the introduction of Volvo Penta
engines into this market will also contribute to a greener India,” he adds.
Volvo
Penta and Doosan Bobcat India began development on both models in 2016.
Following thousands of hours of operation in field-tests and in different
ground conditions. The lengthy research by Doosan Bobcat and Volvo teams helped
fine tune a very effective and cost effective package for intermediate and high
depth drilling.
Volvo
Penta, with approximately 3,500 dealers in over 130 countries, is a
world-leading and global manufacturer of engines and complete power systems for
boats, vessels and industrial applications. The engine program comprises diesel
and gasoline engines with power outputs of between 10 and 1000 hp. Volvo Penta
is part of the Volvo Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy
trucks, buses and construction equipment.
“The field-tests demonstrated that customers
will benefit from the use of Doosan’s efficient air ends and cooling system,
compact packaging for plug and play mounting. We have also extended service
intervals and consumable renewals, which mean lower maintenance costs and
higher uptime. The programmed electronic controller 8 ensures that there is no
manual interference in the compressor operation, making this a strong value
proposition to the customer,” says B S Srinivas, Director of Portable Power at
Doosan Bobcat India.
CUMMINS INDIA showcases engines
As
part of Cummins’ centenary, visitors to stand B-174 at the Excon show
celebrated 100 years of technology, with a display of the company’s wide array
of products for the construction segment in India. Cummins India understands
off-highway equipment manufacturers needs for more efficient, clean and capable
powertrains, with an expectation to do more with less, and improved performance
and transient response while reducing fuel consumption, tailpipe emissions
(including CO2) and noise, especially in urban areas.
Cummins
continues to strengthen its positions and offering in the infrastructure
development sector as it proves fully integrated power solutions, Cummins India
showcased QSF4.5 Bharat Stage IV CEV and the QSB6.7 Bharat Stage IV CEV engines
catering to the Off-Highway segment at the show.
Cummins
QSF4.5Bharat Stage IV CEV engine is available from 121–173 hp. They come with
more power and torque, are less complex and easier to install, and require less
servicing. The QSF4.5 engine is the latest addition to Cummins India’s extensive
range of dependable engines and products. It is a new generation 4-cylinder
engine ideal for use in various off highway and construction applications up to
173 hp range. QSF4.5 has EGR Free Architecture (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
which provides best in class power density and customers will benefit from
exceptional performance and low operating costs, with the reliability and
durability expected from Cummins.
The
QSF4.5 comes with single module after treatment to meet BSIV emissions which
can be easily scaled to meet BSV norms without requiring any new development in
the equipment. The QSF 4.5 off-highway engine is a step ahead of the curve and
powers applications of every type of equipment, including construction, mining,
material handling, oil & gas, power generation and more.
Also
featured was the QSB6.7 Bharat Stage IV CEV engine power unit available from
173-260 Hp. Cummins QSB6.7 is the new generation 6-cylinder engine providing
optimum performance for India duty cycle requirement.QSB6.7 provides best in
class power density which helps engine downsizing to provide better TCO to the
end customers without sacrificing on the performance.
Emission
Technology experts Cummins also showcased their SCR after treatment systems
-Single Module & Flex Module. The 9” Single Module is up to 60% smaller
& 40% lighter than competitor modular after treatment systems with improved
NOx conversion efficiency that removes over 99% of all PM by weight and count
& improved thermal management capabilities. Both the after treatment
systems minimize proliferation & reduce downtime.
Cummins
enables its customers to increase machine capability and offer more value or
downsize engines to reduce cost. Being EGR free, it offers higher reliability
with lower running costs. The engine is suitable for many applications
including wheel loaders, excavators, dump trucks, fork lift trucks and empty
container handlers.
With
an increased focus on infrastructure development has resulted in the need for a
continuous and uninterrupted power to be made available. Essential operations
require uninterrupted power and an accountable partner to stand behind it.
That’s why Cummins is the first choice for all power solutions.
The
wide array of power solutions showcased also featured the Cummins X3.6 series
rugged engine and world class Stamford alternator powered diesel generator set
(40Kva) with advanced in-cylinder technology to meet latest emission norms
without any after-treatment device. Smart aesthetic and superior finish and
compact in size with optimum power to weight ratio. All the major components of
the genset – the engine, alternator, control system and canopy are designed,
manufactured and tested by Cummins India.
Speaking
on Cummins’s participation at Excon Ashwath Ram Managing Director Cummins India
noted - “Cummins engines do more with less. For operators, our engines deliver
higher performance for more machine capability. Simpler architecture means more
reliability, and more productivity. Additionally, our improved fuel efficiency
with extended service intervals drives fewer running costs, and what more
interesting is that Cummins delivers all of this while meeting the stringent
emission norms.”
