Maruti Suzuki India Limited
sold 139,763 units in March 2017. This includes 127,999 units in the domestic
market and 11,764 units in exports. The company had sold a total of 129,345
units in March 2016.
With this, the company ended
2016-17 with its highest ever total sales of 1,568,603 units, a growth of 9.8%.
This comprises highest ever domestic sales of 1,444,541 units. The export sales were 124,062 units.
Analysing the sales breakup,
it is observed that the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz recorded negative sales in March 2017
with 4918 units (5480 units), a negative 10.3pc degrowth. Similarly, its cars
in the other segments like the Mini (Alto, Wagon R) recorded (-) 15.6 degrowth
and its Dzire Tour recorded (-) 63.1pc degrowth. Incidentally, the company is
doing away with this Dzire Tour completely and will be replacing it with the
Dzire which is there in the private segment. The Private car segment will see a
new Dzire being launched soon.
The compact segment comprising
the Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire saw a 29.7pc growth in sales
in March 2017.
