Swedish automaker Volvo's Indian division, Volvo Auto India has launched the XC90 T8 Excellence, a Plug-in Hybrid SUV, for Rs. 1.25 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The XC90 T8 Excellence is the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the country which produces low emissions of just 49g/km. The XC90 T8 Excellence is also the first vehicle in the country to bring in radar based safety features.
The XC90 T8 Excellence is powered by a supercharged and turbocharged, 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine and an 87hp, electric motor. The vehicle has a centrally mounted battery which powers the electric motor and the XC90 T8 Excellence has a total power output of 407hp and a combined torque of 640Nm. The SUV comes with three different driving modes -- pure, power and hybrid. The XC90 T8 Excellence can run a total of 40kms on just the electric charge from the batteries.
In terms of luxury this is one of the most premium offerings of Volvo in India. The SUV features 20 speakers from Bowers & Wilkins, handmade crystal glasses which are crafted in Sweden by Orrefors, heated three spoke leather steering wheel, iPad holders, illuminated crystal cup holders with a heating and cooling function, footrest for rear seats, 6-way electrically adjustable seats, 4-zone climate control with a CleanZone climate system, heated and ventilated seats, 4.3 inch touch screen for rear passengers and heads up display.
On the safety front the XC90 T8 Excellence gets adaptive cruise control, a blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, collision warning and mitigation support, drive mode settings, lane departure warning, lane keeping aid, park assist pilot and road sign information. Volvo will begin deliveries of the XC90 T8 Excellence by the end of 2016. The SUV will come to India in CBU form and so far 50 bookings have been made throughout the country.
