Audi, the German luxury car
manufacturer hosted the Audi India Range drive in Bengaluru to showcase its
diverse product portfolio and to grace the occasion with cricketer Virat Kohli.
The event also marked the market introduction of the most powerful and fastest
production Audi ever built – the next generation Audi R8 V10 Plus. A driving
enthusiast himself, Virat displayed his scoring pace by throttling the Audi R8 V10
Plus.
A 5.2 FSI Mid mounted engine,
with 610 hp and maximum torque of 560 Nm, the all-new R8 V10 plus accelerates
in a mere 3.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and keeps going to its maximum speed
of 330 km/h. The sound of the freely aspirated engine, whose maximum torque is
available at 6,500 rpm, has become even fuller and sharper.
Much lighter than its
predecessor, the next generation Audi R8 V10 Plus is priced at INR 2.55 crores
ex-showroom Maharashtra and INR 2.60 crores ex-showroom Karnataka.
The seven-speed S tronic
transmission delivers gear changes within hundredths of a second and with
virtually no break in acceleration. At the touch of a button, Audi Drive Select
lets you adjust the R8’s configuration by matching the ride dynamic to the
friction coefficient of the road. And for the first time, the newly developed
quattro drivetrain also works with Audi Drive Select, enabling you to adapt the
all-wheel-drive system for better traction and control.
Dual Injection: The dynamic
combination of intake manifold and direct injection in the high- revving V10
yields very short fuel injection times. The result is not just noticeable,
improved power delivery; it also makes for enhanced cooling and lower fuel
consumption.
The quattro drive system has
been fully re-developed. The dual-clutch transmission directs newly designed
quattro drive system with an electro hydraulically activated multi-plate clutch
at the front axle. It has active water cooling for maximum performance. Add to
this, Audi drive select gives driver a choice between the basic modes comfort,
auto, dynamic and individual. In addition to the Audi drive select feature, the
Audi R8 V10 Plus also comes with a ‘Performance Mode’ for better traction in
dry/wet and snow conditions. Preset coefficient parameters alter the traction
control for optimum performance.
