Audi has announced that on June 4, 2015, the company will launch a brand new model which is coming to India for the first time.
Earlier in the year, Audi had said that in every month for 6 months, the company will continue to launch a new car in India. The month of June will be a milestone for Audi as they seem to be ambitious with their approach for India. Audi hasn’t confirmed which car it is, but we suspect by the looks of things, it’s most likely the Audi RS 6 Avant.
The approach is ambitious because the RS 6 Avant is an estate car. No estate car has ever made a mark on Indian soil ever. So bringing a turbo charged 4.0 litre V8 powered estate seems ludicrous. The RS 6 Avant has 560bhp and 772Nm of torque which makes it the quickest Estate car in the world with a 0-100kmph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 305kmph. The RS 6 Avant isn’t only the fastest estate on the planet; it is also faster than most super cars all together. Some say it’s even quicker off the line than a McLaren P1 hypercar. The estate car is also fitted with Audi’s four wheel drive system from Quattro GMBH.
If you think about it, Audi has almost always hit the hammer on the nail with a single blow. The A3 is a hit, the RS7 is a hit, the TT is a hit and even the crore worth R8 supercar is a hit. So maybe Audi is on to something here. Maybe a super quick estate is the answer that India needs to understand the values of an Estate car. Audi may just solve the problem of estates with the RS 6 Avant in the country. It all depends on how they price it.
Of course, we may be wrong as well, there may not be many takers for the RS 6 Avant, we may even be wrong entirely that Audi isn’t even launching the RS6 Avant all together, it may just be something else. But it’s just so much fun to speculate!
