Audi has brought their recently updated Audi TT sports car to India and priced it at an industry spanking Rs.60.35lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
This version of the TT is the 3rd generation of the model and at the front, a 2.0 litre TFSI engine producing 230bhp and 370Nm of torque is mounted under the bonnet. Mated to a 6-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission the TT will cover from 0-100kmph in 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 250kmph while the power is transferred from the engine to all four wheels with Quattro’s permanent all wheel drive system, while in Dynamic mode, power increases to the rear bias. Besides dynamic mode, the TT has 4 more different driving modes to choose from; Comfort, Auto, Individual and a new efficient mode which finds the most economical engine and transmission mapping to save fuel.
As standard, LED lights are fitted, but Matrix LEDs are optional. The new aggressive sharp edged shape of the TT is a new design philosophy for Audi. The key word for the philosophy is “fast” with a broader stance and aggressive look, while maintaining its compactness but it still maintains a look of an Audi, and unmistakeably a TT.
The Interiors are also refreshed with an Audi MMI system with a virtual cockpit. Gone are the days when a cool screen flipped out of the centre of the dash. The TT’s infotainment system is integrated into the driver’s digital instrument cluster which can also be used as a navigation map. The climate control knobs have been moved onto the turbine shaped air-vents themselves in the centre. Even will all the gadgets and a 4 wheel drive system, the new TT weighs only 1335kgs, 50kgs lighter than the previous model. Audi has achieved the feat by engineering a light weight aluminium chassis and using aluminium and steel parts on the body and that bodes well for efficiency.
Joe King, Head, Audi India said; “Both our product launches of 2015 – the limited edition Audi R8LMX and the all new TT coupe have a strong sporty flair. This highlights Audi’s heritage in sportscars, our leadership in this segment in India and our seriousness towards this Ultra-luxurious and indulgent market space. Having said this, we are gearing up with other thrilling surprises on the product front and our Audi fans will surely be spoilt for choices this year.”
Audi has been updating their car designs slowly and gradually with a new formula, and a new look completely. The first car Audi decided to bring in the country with the new look is the TT which is now available across the country at Audi dealerships. Audi has also promised that in 2015, 10 Audis will be launched and 5 models, in the next 5 months as well. Watch this space for more updates and the review of the new TT soon.
