Volkswagen has showcased the all new Scirocco GTS in Shanghai, China, a successor to the iconic Mark II Scirocco GTS from 1982.
Volkswagen say that the GTS will have a top speed of 246kmph and will do 0-100kmph in 6.5 seconds. The GTs will have a 2 litre, 4 cylinder, turbo charged direct injection petrol engine producing 217bhp and 350Nm of torque lifted from the Golf GTI mate to a Manual 6 speed transmission. If fitted with 6-speed DSG gearbox, the top speed slightly comes down to 244kmph which isn’t much to cry over. Fuel consumption Scirocco GTS 16.39kmpl (combined).
The exterior of the car is based on the standard Scirocco fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels and a 19 inch wheels will be available as optional. Red brake callipers will be standard. The R-Line package "Exterieur" which is available as standard includes distinctive R-style bumpers (at the front with integrated fog lamps and glossy black radiator and air inlet grilles), custom side sill extensions, a roof spoiler (also R-style) and a diffuser. The wing mirror caps are painted black and, just like its predecessor, the '82 Scirocco GTS, and can be ordered in six colours: Deep Black, Indium Grey, Urano Grey, Pure White, Oryx White and, Flash Red. The GTS can be ordered with a sporty GTS Stripes that run centrally from the bonnet over the roof and the boot which is an optional extra, but is standard fitment in China because we all know that stripes always makes a car faster… Always!
The Scirocco GTS will be available in the end of May in Europe and soon after in China. It’s a good car, so we don’t expect it to come anytime ever to India.
