After revealing two brilliant cars in Geneva, Porsche has now unveiled the new Porsche Boxster Spyder at the New York International Auto Show.
With its fabric removable soft top roof, which still has to be closed by hand, the Boxster Spyder will only be available in manual transmission, and that’s great for the neo-manual era for people who live a stick in the middle and 3rd pedal new their feet. Hammered onto the manual gearbox will be Porsche’s iconic 3.8 litre flat 6 engine producing 375bhp.in 4.5 seconds, the new Boxster Spyder can easily manage from a standstill to a 100kmph while the top speed is 290kmph. The combined fuel consumption of all of that is 12.1kmpl.
Design wise, as a tribute to the 718 Spyder from the 1960s, the new Boxster Spyder has two prominent streamlined bulges that extend down along the long rear lid behind the head restraints while the front and rear end of the model are taken from the Cayman GT4.
Fitted with a new steering wheel of 360mm, the passengers in the Boxster Spyder get comfy sports bucket seats with large side supports. However, the luxury sort of ends right there, because neither a radio nor air conditioning is included as standard equipment in order to reduce weight but can be fitted as an optional extra.
The new Boxster Spyder will be launched in the international market in July and is available to order now from Porsche Centres.
