At the New
York International Auto Show, Jaguar has debuted the 2016 model of the Jaguar
XF. Here we take a look at all the things you need to know about the new XF
which has already been launched in the UK.
Let’s talk
engines first; the XF will be available with a 2.0 litre Ingenium, 4 cylinder,
diesel engine producing a range of 160 and 180bhp, a 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine
producing 300bhp and a supercharged 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine producing
380bhp. The 2.0 Litre diesel engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual or
8-speed automatic transmission. The other engines will only feature automatic
gearboxes only.
The
construction of the XF is littered with light weight aluminium. Its coupe like
design with Jaguar’s aluminium-intensive architecture, with a longer wheelbase
gives rear passengers 24mm of more legroom, the new overall design of the XF by
Ian Callum achieved an aerodynamic efficiency of Cd 0.26.
The mechanicals
of the car; the new XF is fitted with Double-wishbone and Integral Link
suspension and Advanced passive damper
technology for better ride comfort for all passengers, Electronic Power
Assisted Steering (EPAS) which also enables functions such as camber
compensation and advanced driver assistance systems including lane-keep assist,
driver condition monitoring and bay- and parallel park-assist. Apart from these
gizmos, the XF features more features like full-LED headlights, a laser head-up
display which delivers high-contrast colour images, autonomous emergency
braking, adaptive cruise control with queue-assist, lane keep-assist and an
intelligent speed limiter.
The new XF is
packed with technology that one might expect to get from cars like Jaguars XJ
and its competitors, but with all of this technology, then refinement of the
engine, the intricately researched and developed gearbox, the light weight
aluminium construction, the aerodynamic body sculpture, the electric power
steering all of this come together in one cohesive package just to meet
emission norms with 104g/km of CO2 and a fuel economy of 30.48kmpl.
We fully
expect the XF to land in India very soon, but we are certain that only the
automatic transmission will arrive. If you’re interested watch this space for
more details regarding its India launch.
