Toyota has announced the debut of its Camry and Corolla special edition models at next week’s Chicago Auto Show. These debuts will take place at a press conference which will also feature the refreshed Avalon sedan. The Camry has been the best-selling car in America for the past 13 years while the Corolla has been the world’s best-selling car of all time. Approximately 12,000 units of the Camry Special Edition will be produced and the production will run from August 2015 to January 2016. Only 8,000 units of the Corolla Special Edition will be produced from August 2015 to December 2015.
The 2016 Camry Special Edition showcases both aggressiveness looks and smart technology. This limited production Camry will include most of the standard fit of the Camry SE along with unique 18-inch alloy wheels, power tilt and slide sunroof, smoked tail lamps, high contrast blue stitching on the seats, shift boot and dash, sport meter cluster with blue details and a white background, Entune Audio Plus, smart Key and Pushbutton Start and a Qi wireless charging unit. The Camry will be offered in two colors -- Blizzard Pearl and Blue Streak Metallic.
The Camry Special Edition is powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine which has been paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. In sync with all Toyota vehicles in the US the Camry Special edition will come with the Star Safety System as standard fitment.
Over 40 million units of the Toyota Corolla have been sold since 1966. The car features Sporty styling, a steering wheel with paddle shifters, rear disc brakes, Sport Driving Mode, 17-inch alloy wheels, black interior with red contrast stitching, red accents on the dash and door trim and smart key system with a pushbutton start. The Corolla will be offered in three colors -- Absolutely Red, Black Sand Pearl and Super White. The Corolla will also feature Toyota’s Entune audio system and power tilt/slide sunroof as optional fitment.
