Porsche announced the addition of a new member to their family -- the Cayman GT4. The world will witness the premiere of the Cayman GT4 early in March at the Geneva International Motor Show. The show will be held from March 5 to 15, 2015. The car is set to arrive at U.S. dealerships by July 2015. It is the first Porsche GT sports car which is based on the Cayman platform and features components of the 911 GT3 as well. The Cayman GT4 has clocked a lap time of 7.4 minutes on the North Loop of Nürburgring. The Cayman GT4 has match the record of the 2011 911 GT3 on that track which gives it a position atop its market segment. Porsche has once again displayed its commitment to make industry leading two-door sports cars which are developed at the Motorsport department in Weissach.
The Cayman GT4 has been built for highest driving dynamics through re-configured engine, chassis, brakes, and aerodynamic design. The car is powered by a 385bhp, 3.8-liter flat-six engine which has been derived from the 911 Carrera S engine. The car transmits its power through a six-speed manual transmission with dynamic gearbox mounts. The Cayman GT4 can achieve a maximum speed of 294kmph and can go from 0-100kmph in a matter of 4.2 seconds.
On the outside the Cayman GT4 gives it a distinct resemblance to the Porsche GT family. The car has a systematically designed aerodynamic package which has been designed for enhanced downforce using three inlet openings in the front and a fixed rear wing. Porsche is also offering its customers an option to enhance the performance capabilities of Cayman GT4 by including the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system, full bucket seats made of carbon fiber composite and a custom Sport Chrono Package which features a track precision app. The inside you find standard sport seats which are upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara. The Cayman GT4 sport steering wheel guarantees ideal control and direct steering feedback due to its compact dimensions.
