Fiat Group
Automobiles India Pvt. Ltd has launched the new Avventura in the country. The
new crossover from Fiat, based on the recently launched Punto Evo, is now
available in 5 variants with 2 engine options with prices starting from Rs. 5.99
lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which puts it right into the battle ground of the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross, Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster.
The
ex-showroom Delhi prices of the different variants are:
PETROL:
Active 1.4 FIRE:
Rs 599064
Dynamic 1.4 FIRE:
Rs 705066
DIESEL:
Active 1.3 MULTIJET:
Rs 689065
Dynamic 1.3 MULTIJET:
Rs 765064
Emotion 1.3 MULTIJET:
Rs 817065
The Avventura
will be powered by the same 1.4L FIRE petrol and the 4 cylinder 1.3L turbo
charged MULTIJET diesel engine that’s found in the Punto Evo producing 88bhp
for both engines with 115Nm of torque for petrol and 209Nm for the diesel. The
petrol engine has a fuel economy as claimed by Fiat of 14.4kmpl and the diesel
to have 20.5kmpl. Both engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. With
stiffer suspension than the Punto Evo, the Avventura has a ground clearance
205mm, which is class leading compared to its rivals, will be highly welcomed
for India road conditions. The Italian crossover will stand on 16-inch alloy
wheels and hydraulic power steering wheel.
The many
design changes around the car make it more aggressive from the Punto Evo from
all angles. The most noticeable design change is spare wheel which has come out
from under the boot and housed on the tailgate, making the small hatchback look
more like a proper off-roader. The roof rails on top are designed well as they
not only make the car look better but are also functional.
The interior
of the Avventura is almost identical to the Punto Evo, but it has something
which is quite unique in its segment, or as a matter of fact anything close to
its segment. Above the air-con vents in the centre console, FIAT has utilised
the space for a digital compass and high terrain gauges which provide Pitch and
Roll information, something highly required in an off-roader.
Some safety
features on the car are fire prevention system which cuts the fuel supply in
case the car rolls over, immobilizer with rolling code, solid rear seats, and
smart power windows that roll up even after the engine is manually cut off.
