With
an all new platform, several new technological changes, matched with both new interior
and exterior styling and features, Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the new
generation Scorpio. The starting price for the new Scorpio will be Rs 8.40 lakh
(ex showroom Delhi) for the S2 variant. However, the S2 variant will be powered
a M2diCR engine and not by the popular and powerful 2.2 litre mHawk engine
which delivers 118.35 bhp and a peak torque of 280Nm which will be powering the
S4, S4+, S6, S6+, S8 and S10.
The
S2 model powered by the M2diCR engine will have LED tail lamps, micro hybrid
feature, digital immobiliser, hydraulic assisted bonnet and power steering. The
S4 variant will have all the features of an S2 and will come with an MHawk
engine and will have a shift on fly four wheel drive (optional). The S6 will
come with add ons like 2 DIN audio system, ski rack, voice assist system, panic
brake indication, speakers with tweeters, spoiler, rear wash and wipe, rear
demister and body coloured exteriors. The S8 will additionally have projector
headlamps, dual airbags, ABS, alloy wheels, fog lamps and reverse parking
assist. The fully loaded s10 will have advanced static bending technology, LED
eyebrows, advanced 6” touch screen infotainment with GPS navigation, fully
automatic temperature control, rain and light sensors, steering mounted audio
and cruise controls, etc.
The
features do not end there. There are a plethora of new features in the new
Scorpio. As for the prices, the S4 will come for Rs 8.99 lakh, S6 for Rs 10.15
lakh, Rs 11.32 lakh for the S8 and Rs 11.95 lakh for the S10. First launched in
2002, the Scorpio has undergone several changes in the last several years. The
new Scorpio is the fourth generation model. In 2002 when the Scorpio was
launched it gave a fuel average of 11.2kmpl of diesel but in 2014 the figure
has gone up to 15.37kmpl.
The
new Scorpio story does not end there. The SUV comes in a new 17 inches alloy
wheels, silver-finished fender bezel, new wrap around bonnet, new bonnet scoop
with low drag intake design, new road armour bumpers, new fog lamps and side
cladding with silver embossing. There is also the tyre-tronics, a sophisticated
measuring system that enhances the safety by providing live updates of exact air
pressure and temperature in each tyre.
