Toyota launches Urban Cruiser Hyryder; To rival Creta, Seltos among others

For quite some time, as per the global alliance, Maruti Suzuki has been manufacturing the Baleno and the Brezza not just for itself but for Toyota too. The two vehicles are branded Toyota Glanza and Toyota Urban Cruiser respectively and sold through Toyota dealerships across the country. The Hyryder will soon be made for Maruti Suzuki and sold at the latter’s dealerships.

The Hyryder will be the first vehicle in its segment across brands that will be offered in a strong hybrid electric version. The Hyryder will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, among others.

ENGINE

The Hyryder will have two broad models, the NeoDrive and Hybrid. The NeoDrive variants will include E,S,G andV, while the Hybrid variants will include S, G andV.

The Hybrid grade will be powered by a 1.5 litre 1490cc) TNGA petrol engine. The engine will produce 92.4ps@5500 rpm and 122Nm@3800-4800rpm. The total system max power is 115.56ps that includes power from the lithium ion battery

The NeoDrive grade is powered by a 1.5 litre (1462cc) K series engine with ISG that produces 101.9ps@6000 rpm and 135Nm@4400rpm of peak torque.

While it’s e drive for the Hybrid grades, it is a 5 speed MT and 6 speed AT option for NeoDrive grades. The e-drive transmission with 2WD is a self-charging strong hybrid electric vehicle that is capable of running 40% of distance and 60% of time on electric (EV) or zero emission mode. The a 1.5-liter K-series engine with Neo Drive (ISG), 5 Speed Manual Transmission & 6 Speed Automatic Transmission comes with 2WD & 4WD options.

The suspension comprises MacPherson strut in front and Rear-Torsion beam at the rea. As for brakes, in front it has ventilated disc while at the rear it has solid disc. The wheel and tyre size is 215/60 R17.

EXTERIOR

The LXWXH (mm) is 4365 x 1795 x 1635 along with a wheelbase of 2600mm and a turning radium-5.4 metres. It has a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres. (Hyundai Creta- LXWXH mm-  4300 x 1790 x 1635 wheelbase- 2610) (Kia Seltos- LXWXH mm- 4315 x 1800x 1620  wheelbase- 2610)

Exterior features include LED projector headlamp, Twin LED DRLs, panoramic sunroof, wide trapezoidal lower grille, dual tone body colour, unique crystal acrylic upper grille with chrome garnish, LED taillamps, sporty rear skid plate, R17 alloy wheels.

INTERIOR

Features include Drive mode switch (AWD), wireless charging, ventilated seats, 9 inches smart play cast audio, head up display, paddle shift, front sliding arm rest, 7 inches TFT multi info display, tilt and telescopic steering, steering mounted control, soft touch instrument panel with premium switch, EC IVRM, push start/stop button and auto AC

Other features include trunk lamp, ample legroom and headroom space, large boot space, footwell lamp, overhead console, ambient lighting.  reclining rear seat, 60:40 split seat at rear, rear AC vents and USB ports, black and brown interiors for Hybrid grades and all black interior for NeoDrive grades.

Besides, the Hyryder gets smartphone connectivity and smartwatch connectivity and advanced voice control that enable remote vehicle ignition start/stop, remote ac control, find my carm lock and unlock, remote immobiliser and vehicle  health. You can also managed remote accessibility to headlight, hazard light + honk, stolen vehicle tracker, distance to empty, etc.

SAFETY FEATURES

The safety features include 360 deg camera, front seat pretensioner force limiter, 6 airbags, advanced body structure, hill hold control, hill descent in AWD, rear 3 point seat belts, all wheel disc brake, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, TPMS, among others.  

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder inherits Toyota’s global SUV lineage with its bold and sophisticated styling and advanced tech features, making it a perfect choice in the segment. Bookings have begun for an amount of Rs. 25,000.
