Kia India, part of the Hyundai Motor Group of South Korea, has launched the Kia EV6 electric crossover at Rs 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive variant of the EV6 will cost Rs 64.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
As of now, only 100 units of the electric car are available by September 2022. The company has received 355 overall bookings for the Kia EV6. The car will be sold as CBU in India.
It may be recalled late May 2022, the all-electric Kia EV6 crossover was awarded the highest safety rating following extensive testing by Euro NCAP, Europe’s leading independent safety testing organisation. The EV6 achieved the maximum five-star rating.
The EV6 achieved 90% for adult occupant protection, 86% for child occupant protection, 64% for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, and 87% in the ‘safety assist’ category, which rates a vehicle based on the availability of a comprehensive suite of crash avoidance technologies.
The bookings for the EV6 had begun Kia on May 26 at around 13 cities across the country. The cities included Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, Noida, Jaipur, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The booking amount was Rs 3 lakh.
The Kia EV6 has been built on Hyundai’s EV platform, E-GMP which means Electric- Global Modular Platform. The electric car is expected to use 77 KWh battery pack and gives a range of around 528 kms in single charge. The electric car can go from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, the company claimed.
The car is being offered in two variants; GT and GT-Line with all-wheel drive. The GT variant can generate 229 hp at 350 Nm of peak torque while the GT-Line is expected to give 347 hp of power at 605 Nm of peak torque.
The Kia EV6 electric crossover features an 800-volt ultra-fast charging capability, with a 10-80 percent charge in 18 minutes using a 350-kW charger, For the convenience of customers, the company will be installing 150kW chargers across all these EV dealerships added for customer convenience. The EV6 will come with a smart charger capable of giving a peak power output of 22Kw, as standard for all customers and assistance will be extended to them in the installation at a place of their choice.
The EV6 will come with a warranty of three years, unlimited kilometres, and additional battery coverage for 8 years / 1,60,000 kilometres. The EV6 will be available in different colours including Moonscape, Snow-white pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and, Yacht blue.
