BMW India has announced that the new BMW iX that was launched in India barely a day back, has been sold out. The BMW iX is the first electric all-wheel drive vehicle by BMW. The electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) has been completely sold-out on the day of launch itself.
The company, however, did not disclose the number of cars booked and sold. But Motown India estimates that these numbers cannot be more than a handful. The BMW iX is a premium electric car priced at Rs 1,15,900, ex showroom.
Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “We are very excited to receive such a phenomenal response to the first-ever BMW iX. Born electric, our new technology flagship stands for a new way of life defined by mobility that is luxurious and responsible at the same time. We were confident that the first-ever BMW iX will be a sought-after product, but it has truly surpassed all expectations. With all units sold on the first day, we are now preparing to fulfil the demands of other customers who are waiting to own this exclusive electric BMW SAV.”
The car was launched on December 13, 2021 as a completely-built-up unit (CBU) at an introductory price of Rs 1,15,90,000 (Ex-showroom). The cars are incidentally produced at the Dingolfing facility of BMW in Bavaria, Germany. The Dingolfing plant in Lower Bavaria now produces vehicles with all drive train variants, i.e. combustion-engine vehicles, plug-in hybrids and fully-electric models, on a single line.
The BMW iX is being manufactured at the BMW Group’s largest European production plant on an assembly line with the flexibility to build a mix of BMW 5 Series, 7 Series and 8 Series models. The fully-electric heart of the BMW iX, The highly integrated e-drive and fifth-generation battery, as well as the complete electric axle, are produced on site, together with the Dingolfing component plants. The BMW iX is produced exclusively using regional and directly sourced green power from two hydroelectric power plants located on the Isar and Lech rivers.
