Volkswagen India launched the Taigun SUV or as Volkswagen calls it, the Taigun Sport Utility VolksWagen or SUVW at a starting price of Rs 10,49,900 (ex showroom).
The Taigun will be sold under two broad trim lines, the Dynamic Line and the Performance Line. The Dynamic will have the Taigun powered by the 1.0 litre TSI petrol engine while the Performance Line will be powered by a 1.5 litre TSI petrol engine.
The Dynamic Line 1.0 TSI will have a Comfortline variant that is priced at Rs 10,49,900. This has a 6-speed manual transmission. Next comes the Highline where the Manual variant costs Rs 12,79,900 while the 6 speed Automatic costs Rs 14,09,900. The topline manual will cost Rs 14,56,900 with the Automatic costing Rs 15,90,900.
For the Performance line with the 1.5 litre engine, there are two variants, the GT with manual transmission that costs Rs 14,99,900 and GT Plus which is powered by a DSG and it costs Rs 17,49,900.
The one litre Taigun is powered by a 999cc engine which has an option of a six speed manual transmission as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 115ps @5000-5500rpm and a peak torque of 178Nm@1750-4500rpm
The 1.5 litre variant is powered by 1498cc engine producing power of 150ps@5000 to 6000rpm and a peak torque of 250Nm@1600-3500rpm.
