Skoda
Auto India has introduced the new Yeti at Rs 18.99 lakh ex showroom Delhi. This
is for the Yeti Elegance 4x2 model. The Yeti Elegance 4x4model costs Rs 20.53
lakh. Skoda has now extensively
redesigned the Yeti and the vehicle is being offered with two diesel engines for
the Indian market-- the 2.0 TDI producing around 109 bhp of power
approximately. This is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The other is
a 2.0 TDI producing 138bhp of power approximately. This has an all-wheel drive
fitted as standard and is mated to a manual six-speed gearbox. The two-wheel
drive model gives a fuel mileage of 17.72Kmpl, while the four-wheel drive one
gives 17.67 kmpl.
The
Yeti was awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test in 2009 for its safety
features. Systems such as ESC including ABS, braking assistant and a robust
body design as well as a state-of-the-art chassis guarantee optimum active
safety. In terms of passive safety, passengers are protected by a system with 6
airbags, five three-point safety belts, and five head restraints.
For
the first time the Yeti will also feature cruise control and the KESSY system.
Light Assist, a clever feature is added to the redesigned Yeti for the first
time. The redesigned Yeti sports the
brand’s new design philosophy and a new logo.
The
vehicle boasts of features like ‘hill descent control’ and ‘drive off assistant’.
The SUV now has a completely new front and upgraded rear end with LED rear
lights, a new radiator grille, new bumpers, new front headlights and fog lights
and a new bonnet. The 17 vertical grille ribs are embellished with chrome and
look more distinctive. For the first time, the Yeti now features Bi-Xenon AFS
headlight system, retractable washers, automatic levelling and integrated LED
daytime running lights.
While
the angular shape of the Yeti silhouette remains basically unchanged, the wheel
houses have a stronger shape than before. The vehicle now features a silver
roof rail with a matte black roof. Two new alloy wheel designs are available (16”
'Forest' for 4x4 and 16” 'Dolomite' for 4x2 version). There are also two new
reflectors in the bumper, they are positioned flush with the lower edge of the
tailgate which also sports new taillights, including LEDs, in the brand’s typical
C design.
The
Skoda Yeti’s interior have been refreshed with a new 3-spoke multifunctional
steering wheel, adjustable for height- and reach. The Yeti comes with standard
ESC (Electronic Stability Control), which includes ABS (Antilock Braking
System), EBC (Engine Braking Control), braking assistant, ASR(Anti-Slip
Regulation) and EDL (Electronic Differential Lock).
