Luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has launched the Grand Edition of its flagship SUV GLS in both the petrol and diesel version. The plush interiors of the vehicle are inspired by the flagship luxury sedan, the S-Class.
The GLS 350 d Grand Edition (Diesel) and the GLS 400 Grand Edition (Petrol) are both priced at Rs 86.90 lakh (Ex-showroom India). The GLS 350 d comes with a 3-litre, V6 diesel engine producing 258 hp and 620 Nm of peak torque whereas the GLS 400 features a V6 petrol engine that delivers 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a 9G-Tronic 9-Speed automatic transmission. The Grand Edition comes with black rings integrated with Intelligent LED Light system thus enhancing the visual appeal. The SUVs are fitted with a 20-inch 10-spoke light alloy wheels, painted in Black and with a high-sheen finish, to ensure a stylish appearance.
The vehicles have ‘Grand Edition’ exterior badges and chrome fins on the bonnet that helps create differentiation from others in the stable. The Rear Seat Entertainment System comes as standard with the new Grand Edition of GLS. It boasts of two 7 inch high definition screens.
The GLS Grand Edition was introduced in the market by Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, and will be available across all Mercedes-Benz dealerships across the country.
The interior offers the S-Class’ level of comfort and luxury, among all SUVs. Furthermore, up to seven passengers can enjoy an outstanding level of comfortable spaciousness. In terms of storage space, the GLS provides a volume of 680 to 2300 litres and as such clearly surpasses the amount of space offered by the vehicle's European competitors. Of particular note in the high-quality elegant interior are a new heated 3-spoke multifunction nappa leather steering wheel with steering wheel gearshift paddles, 12 function keys and an airbag cover in nappa leather, instruments with modified details as well as a redesigned instrument panel with semi-integrated colour Media Display.
A unique and first ever feature that enhances the environment inside the GLS is the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It provides options to make calls, listen to music, send and receive text messages and also provides access to select third-party apps that are approved by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
