German auto major Audi introduced the latest generation A6 luxury sedan at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The new A6 presents the eighth generation of Audi's successful luxury sedan. The new Audi A6 comes with numerous innovations and is more versatile than ever before.
The new Audi A6 features taut surfaces, clear edges and striking lines. The sedan conveys sporty elegance, cutting edge technology and premium quality. The interiors of the luxury sedan are focused consistently on the fully digital operating system that is a trendsetter in the segment.
This luxury sedan from Audi comes with the MMI touch response operating system and also gets haptic and acoustic feedback for a quicker and more intuitive operation. Audi has added extensive connectivity and assistance solutions on the A6 to enhance the package offering more safety and convenience to consumers.
Some of the highlights of the driver assistance features that have been added on the Audi A6 are parking pilot and garage pilot. The sedan has also been equipped with adaptive driving assistant. This supports longitudinal and lateral control enabling the car to stay in its lane even in narrow lanes and roadwork sections.
The new Audi A6 features a dynamic All Wheel Drive (AWD) steering system which plays an important role in the sedans agile and nimble driving characteristics. The AWD system also helps in improving the turning circle radius by upto 1.1 meters. The Audi A6 also comes with a new damping concept which provides intensive and differentiated feedback from the road.
Audi is offering the new A6 with two engine options -- a 3.0L TFSI petrol engine capable of producing 340hp and 3.0L TDI diesel engine which churns out 286hp. Both engine options have been equipped with a mild hybrid system as standard. The new Audi A6 will be produced at the company's Neckarsulm plant and will make it to the German market along with an extensive equipment offering by June 2018.
Audi also showcased the e-tron prototype which offers a preview of the first all electric model that the company has produced. The e-tron prototype can be seen with a specially developed design film showcasing a high voltage drive system. The interiors of the all electric SUV are slated as premium with a seating capacity of five adults. The SUV will also get ample of luggage room and comfort rivaling a typical luxury model. The e-tron boasts of a long range and will also get an electric quattro setup and comprehensive charging options. The production version of the SUV is said to come with fast charging capability of a little under 30 minutes.
