1.) The new Passat comes built on Volkswagen's MQB platform and is
almost 70kgs lighter than its predecessor.
2.) The Passat was originally showcased
in the Paris Motor show back in 2014 and has made its way to Indian shores
after three years.
3.) The sedan is powered by a 2.0L TDI
diesel engine which puts out approximately 176bhp and 350Nm of torque. The new
VW Passat is only available with an automatic DSG 6-speed transmission.
4.) Some features which make the new
Passat stand out are Hands Free Parking, 360 degree view, smart boot release
and boot close button, voice commands, three zone climate control, massage
function for the driver seat, rain sensing wipers and tyre pressure monitoring
system.
5.) Volkswagen is offering the new
Passat with 9 airbags, this includes - driver and front passenger airbags, knee
airbag driver side, curtain airbags front and rear passenger, side airbags for
passengers and side airbags for rear outer passengers.
6.) The list of safety features includes
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with ABS, ASR and EDL, Hill Start Assist,
Electromechanical parking brake, Auto Hold Function, disc brakes in the front
and rear, Lockable wheel bolts to prevent theft and front underbody guard.
7.) The new Passat is shorter than the
previous version by approximately 2mm but the wheelbase has been increased by
79mm. This has resulted in shorter overhangs. The new Passat is also 12mm
longer but the height of the sedan has been reduced by 14mm.
8.) The new Volkswagen Passat gets a
bigger boot! Boot space on the new Passat now stands at 586 litres as opposed
to the 560 litres on its predecessor. When the rear seat is folded the space
stands at 1,152 litres.
9.) Volkswagen is offering the new
Passat with Dynamic Chassis Control System (DCC). The DCC constantly adjusts
the suspension settings to match road surface and current driving situation.
Drive modes offered are Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual.
10.) There are only two variants being
offered on the VW Passat. The Comfort Line is offered for Rs. 29.99 lakh
(ex-showroom Delhi) and the High Line is being offered for Rs. 32.99 lakh
(ex-showroom Delhi).
