Tata Motors will be launching the Tata Nexon compact SUV this
festive season. Powering the Nexon will be a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine
from the Revotron series and a 1.5L diesel mill from the Revotorq family of
engines. Both the engines will be mated to a 6-speed transmission.
A first-in-segment feature, the Multi Drive Mode function allows the
driver to seamlessly switch between the three different drive modes – Eco, City
and Sport to experience three different personalities of the Nexon.
The “Grand Central Console”, inspired by high end cars gives a very
premium and sporty feel to interiors. Unique sliding tambour door mechanism
allows easy storage space.
The name Nexon has been derived from 'Next-On' signifying a next
level of things. The Nexon compact SUV has been designed by Tata's in-house
facility in Pune while the new engines have been indigenously developed using
inputs from global technology suppliers -- AVL, Bosch, Mahale and Honeywell.
Tata's Revotron engine will be manufactured at their Sanand facility while the
Revotorq engine will be produced at the Ranjangaon facility.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors flagged-off the first batch of the Tata Nexon
from its Ranjangaon facility. The Nexon is the company’s fourth car in the new
generation of passenger vehicles under the Impact design philosophy, targeting
a new segment altogether. Motown India was the first media house in the country to
break the story of Nexon being made at the Ranjangaon plant.
