While many feel GM India is slowly slipping into the shadows, the
fact is that they have been operating on the sidelines and plan to soon bring
out new products in the Indian car market. The company recently announced permanently
halting their operations at their facility in Halol, Gujarat consolidating
their production at their Talegaon, Maharashtra facility. On the product front,
GM India is planning to launch the new 2017 Chevrolet Beat in the 3rd week of
July, 2017.
Differentiating the new hatchback from the previous version of the
Beat, this new 2017 version will be called the Intelli Beat. The new 2017
Intelli Beat has been spotted a few times during test runs and looks exactly
like the Chevrolet Essentia showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo barring the fact
that the Essentia has a boot. Chevrolet also showcased the Beat Active concept
which throws a little more light on what the rear part of the new 2017
Chevrolet Intelli Beat will look like.

India Launch Date
According to an official memo which was circulated to dealer
partners, Chevrolet plans to launch the new 2017 Intelli Beat in the third week
of July. Further the memo stated that media shall be able to sample and preview
this new hatch from the stables of Chevrolet by the end of this month.

India Expected Price
At present the Chevrolet Beat retails for Rs. 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom
Delhi) for their 1.2L petrol variant and Rs. 4.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for
their diesel variant. The new 2017
Chevrolet Intelli Beat could be priced aggressively with a starting price of
Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol version and Rs. 5 plus lakh for
the diesel. We expect the top end diesel version of the new 2017 Chevrolet
Intelli Beat to hit the Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) mark and the top end
petrol to hover around the Rs. 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) figure.

The current model of the Chevrolet Beat gets a 1.2L, 4 cylinder,
petrol power plant and 1.0L, 3 cylinder diesel mill. These are in all
probability going to continue on to the upcoming 2017 Chevrolet Intelli Beat.
While the 1.0L, 3 Pot, diesel puts out 56.3bhp at 4000rpm and 142.5Nm of torque
at 1750rpm, the petrol 1.2L, 4 cylinder engine puts out 78.62bhp at 6200rpm and
106.5Nm at 4400rpm. The 1.0L, 3 cylinder diesel engine returns almost 25kms to
a litre while the 1.2L, 4 cylinder petrol engine returns approximately
16-17kmpl.
