Mahindra & Mahindra , a
leading utility vehicle manufacturer, saw a terrible April 2017 as domestic
sales and exports slumped drastically. M&M total sales numbers (Utility
Vehicles, Cars & Vans and Commercial Vehicles) stood at 39,357 vehicles
during April 2017, as against 41,863 vehicles during April 2016, thereby
recording a minus 6 per cent growth.
The Passenger Vehicles segment
of Mahindra & Mahindra (which includes UVs, Cars and Vans) sold 19,325
vehicles in April 2017, as against 22,655 vehicles during April 2016, a drop by
15 per cent. Mahindra & Mahindra domestic sales of all its vehicles stood
at 37,829 vehicles during April 2017, as against 39,357 vehicles during April
2016, a drop by 4 per cent.
In April 2017, Mahindra &
Mahindra Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment sold 278 vehicles as
against 472 vehicles in April 2016, a drop of 41 per cent. Exports of all its
vehicles for April 2017 stood at 1,528 vehicles (2506 units), a drop of 39per
cent.

Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd. said, “We are hopeful that the new financial
year will bring in positive sentiments for the automotive industry with the key
demand drivers in place.... At Mahindra we have registered a marginal de-growth
in the month of April. Going forward, we are looking for a good growth momentum
with our planned refreshes during FY18“.
