It has almost been a decade since the Victor motorcycle made an appearance in the market. Back then it was a hit not because of its looks or specs, rather what made it a success was its image as a family friendly bike for the common man. It delivered a great mileage and was sober and simple to suit the average ‘daddy’ of the early 2000s. Enter 2016 and the standards of the common man have changed, no longer does he want just sheer mileage and convenience. Now he demands style and status as well. After all it’s an era of flaunting the good things in life. So does this new avatar of the TVS Victor live up to the expectations and standards of today?

The most striking improvement comes in the form of an updated overall design. The bike has been made to look beefier and has been inscribed with dual tone graphics. Add to this the chiseled lines that flow along the bike and you have yourself a looker. The revised headlamp and tail lamp only add to the bike's imposing look. You actually mistake the new Victor for a 125cc bike.
When it comes to the engine, the Victor is powered by a 110cc, 3 valve engine that produces 9.5bhp of power at 7500rpm and 9.4Nm of torque at 6000rpm. This caters to a great riding experience. A kerb weight of 113 kgs lends the bike an immense stability even at high speed and the bike does not jitter or shake and produces minimal engine noise. The Victor 110 comes with an optional disc brake for the front. The disc performed really well on smooth tarmac and bad roads. Both the brakes were progressive and add to the confidence of the rider. The bike also comes with tubeless tyres and taking tight corners is not a bother as you get a nice grip on the road. The suspension setup has been fine-tuned as well and when you go over some rough patches and broken tarmac (which is often in cities like Delhi), you won’t be shaken up too much. But what hampered the riding experience a bit is the 4-speed constant mesh transmission which we thought could have been made smoother. Also the acceleration is not the best, but it is good enough for city driving.
The meter console of the Victor 110 consists of an analogue rpm gauge and a digital speedometer with trip meter, odometer and fuel level indicator. The console might not be the best looking one in the segment but gets the job done and is easy to read. There is also a handy Power and Economy mode indicator which enables the rider to determine their pattern of driving. The overall aesthetics of the bike are of great quality and we have no complaints in that area. The Victor also boasts of one of the most spacious seats in the segment and this is a welcome feature considering that this is a family oriented vehicle. The saddle also provides for an upright seating position.
The Victor dawns a large 60W head lamp at the front which casts a strong beam and can be really handy in situations with low visibility like rain and fog. The rear view mirrors are also large enough and positioned properly to give you a good view of what is behind you. This is really valuable in city conditions where you have heavy traffic. In terms of fuel economy, the Victor 110 returns 76 kilometers to the litre which is decent for a 110cc bike especially considering the kind of performance that it delivers in exchange for this fuel economy, although the fuel tank is somewhat small at just 8 litres.
In essence this 110cc motorcycle performs ideally in city traffic, has looks which are contemporary and a mileage that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
