If time travel was possible and we take a peek into the future, it may not be as pretty as we imagine it to be. The natural resources of our planet may be over and skies may go black with pollution from industries. I am not really talking about an apocalypse but the time before that. Imagine if there were no fossil fuels left to power the industrial machines or to move the cog of transport. Where would the world turn to? The answer is simple; it’s still not too late to conserve our resources. By that I mean, let’s have more of electric vehicles on our roads.
When I was told we are going to be reviewing the new Hero Electric E-Sprint, I began thinking of places which would be good for a shoot. I concluded that we need a lush green backdrop for this vehicle. We took the E-Sprint to a lush green area. It was the right place for a clean sprint. The E-Sprint is an electric powered 800W scooty and is as silent as a winter night. All I could feel was the breeze blowing in my face, the sound of chirping birds and the mesmerising greenery. Then it hit me, if our world around us had to be conserved, E-Sprints need to be the order of the day.
Electric powered vehicles will be one of the major alternatives to mobility in the future and many manufacturers are moving in this direction. The E-Sprint is a high speed scooty from Hero Electric and we took it for a test review to find out more about the product and its capabilities. At first glance this e-scooty is a handsome fellow and has a bold stance. The styling on the E-Sprint is sleek with sharp features at the front and back. For a battery operated vehicle high speed has a different definition. It is not really meant to go up to 300kmph but attain a decent speed ideal for city roads. The manufacturer’s claim for top speed on the E-Sprint is 45kmph but with me on, it did not go beyond 38kmph and for reference I weigh 76kgs. But all said and done it has decent acceleration and did not take eternity to achieve the modest 38kmph. The E-Sprint motor has a peak power of 1200W. The battery is a 48V/ 33AH and has a range of 65kms on power mode and 80kms on eco mode.

The E-Sprint has 10 inch wheels and a telescopic suspension, it is light with a kerb weight of just 106kgs making it zippy and easy to manoeuvre in city traffic. It handles well on tarmac and wouldn’t really pose any potential problems since it doesn’t go that fast. One must, of course, wear a helmet while riding this electric scooty. The suspension is on the softer side making for a comfy ride and smaller potholes don’t pose too much of a threat to your bottom. The disc brakes on the E-Sprint are quite accurate and do their job well considering 38-0kmph should not be a big deal. The e-scooty has a ground clearance of 150mm and even when we were wading through oversized puddles I did not wet my feet or get stuck. The switch gear on the E-Sprint is easy to operate and the build quality is good. You get a front pocket for your baggage and the analogue speed-o-meter looks neat to say the least.
I agree that there may be a few drawbacks to own an e-scooty but like every drop in the ocean counts, every fighter in a war matters. The scooty is ideal for riding within localities, in campuses and can be a boon for the young as well as the old. I will also suggest that this vehicle is ideal for beat constables who go around huge gated localities to keep an eye on suspicious elements. The E-Sprint comes with a price tag of Rs.36,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and I feel that if you want to make a difference then this is not too big an amount to spend.
