United Motors (UM), a US based motorcycle and scooter manufacturer is set to enter India. Its products are likely to be launched at the Auto Expo –The Motor Show 2014 at Greater Noida. UM is a motorcycle brand registered with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office by its founders in the early 2000. UM motorcycles are designed in the U.S and are distributed in over 20 different countries ranging from Latin America, Africa and Asia. The company has its headquarters located in Miami, FL, USA.
The company is into scooters, cruisers and dual purpose motorcycles, ranging from 100cc to 250cc.
Some of UM’s Key Innovations are:
Communication Awareness System Helmet (CASH): A helmet with integrated stop and turn signals that communicates wirelessly with the UMMotorcycle (via Bluetooth technology) allowing the rider, through an integrated control switch located in the handlebar, to answer calls but also turns helmet stop and turning signals simultaneously with the motorcycle stops and turn signals.
Keyless Alarm System(KAS):This system recognises the presence of the UM motorbike owner within 1.2 meters of the bike and energises the bike automatically. The bike can then be started without using a key. When the vehicle stops and the rider walks away, the system turns off power to the bike and activates an alarm equipped with a motion sensor. When system is in By-Pass mode, the remote can turn the alarm on or off, up to 300 meters away, including a search function when trying to locate the bike. Inside the remote, there is a mechanical key that can be removed and used when the owner deactivates the KAS and wants to use the bike in a normal mode.
