Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt Ltd going by its “Call of the Blue” entered the 125cc
scooter segment with a bang by launching a new Fascino 125 FI, Ray ZR 125 FI
and Street Rally 125 FI scooters. The new Fascino 125 FI prices start at Rs
66,430 onward (ex showroom Delhi) and will be available from January 2020.
The
prices of the Ray ZR 125 FI and the Street Rally 125 FI were not announced. The
company also launched the new MT-15 BS VI as well as the YSF-R15 Version 3 BS
VI. The company had recently announced the launch of the R15 which costs Rs.
145,300 onward.

The
motorcycles and scooters were unveiled in the presence of Motofumi Shitara,
Chairman, Yamaha India Group of companies, actress Kriti Kharbanda, Singer
Anirudh Ravichandran and other senior
officials of the company.
Compared
to Yamaha’s earlier scooters, these new scooter will have a 30 per cent
increase in power output and around 16 per cent improvement of fuel economy,
besides new technologies.
The
new scooters are powered by a BS VI complaint air cooled, fuel injected (FI), 125cc blue core engine that
produces a peak power of 8.2ps (8.09hp) @ 6500rpm and a peak torque of 9.7Nm @
5000rpm. The scooter weighs 99kg, which is 4 kgs lighter than its existing
scooters.
The Fascino 125 FI,
the new Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI will have a stop and start system
that will essentially prevent engine idling and subsequently start with a
single throttle twist which uses the sensors to assess the riding environment.
It has front disc brake with ‘Unified brake system ‘ (UBS , a smart motor
generator (SMG) that uses electronic controls to bring a quieter engine start
without the need for a separate conventional electric starter and a side stand
engine cut-off switch.
The
new Fascino 125 FI gets an all-new exterior design, higher quality body work,
newly designed headlight, new gauges, etc. The scooter will be available in
both disc and drum brakes and in a wide range of colours.
The
target customers for the new Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI are lying
between 18-24 years of age who are high on adventure and performance it offers.
New Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI
The
styling concept for the New Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI is “Armored
Energy” which evokes a feeling of a powerful motorcycle that is laced into the
proportions, details, striking design and new technologies. The sporty,
sharp-looking headlight is Class C compliant while the Y-shaped LED position
light adds greater originality to the design. The turn signals at the front and
rear use individual mounting stalks like those used for motorcycles.
The
Ray ZR 125 FI is available in both drum and disc brake versions, and the disc
brake version gets digital instrument cluster as a new feature. The new Ray ZR
125 FI is available in wide range of colour variants including Dark Matte Blue,
Metallic Black, Cyan Blue, Matte Red Metallic and Reddish Yellow Cocktail.
The
new Street Rally 125 FI also fuses motorcycle elements with those of a scooter
and scatters them throughout the design. Brush guards shield the rider’s hands
from oncoming airflow and add a sporty, adventure-influenced touch to the
machine. It additionally offers fully digital instrument cluster, side panels
designed to look like a rugged frame, block-pattern tire, sporty coloured wheel
stripes (front and rear) and side panels designed to look like metallic
protectors. The new Street Rally 125 FI is available in two colours – Deep
Purplish Blue Metallic and Sparkle Green.
New MT-15 BS VI:
The
company launched the 155cc MT-15 with a BS VI engine. The bike was launched in
a special colour-Ice Fluo-Vermillon. This new motorcycle gets a rear radial
tyre. The bike’s design expressing ‘Torque amd Agility’ is now popularized
further by minimal look, dynamic headlight, short tail and overall finish. It
is powered by a VVA engine with model specific ECU, optimised secondary
reduction gear ratio for quick riding in city, A&S clutch, aggressive
riding position, 282mm front disc brake and single channel ABS.
New YZF-R15 Version 3.0 BS VI
This
155cc motorcycle will be available in 3 current colours – Racing Blue, Thunder
Grey and Darknight, along with the Racing Blue variant standardising blue
coloured wheels. The Ex-Showroom Delhi begins from Rs. 145,300.
With
a weight of 142 kgs, the new BS VI engine equipped YZF-R15 Version 3.0
gets ‘Side stand engine cut-off switch’, ‘Dual horn’ and ‘Radial tubeless tyre’
at the rear wheel. Such new features will be standardized in all variants of
the YZF-R15 Version 3.0. Additionally, to perk up the sporty excitement of
‘The Call of the Blue’, the racing blue colour variant gets ‘blue colour
wheels’ that match with the racing excitement of the motorcycle. The new BS VI
engine equipped YZF-R15 Version 3.0 has a 155 cc, Liquid cooled, 4-stroke,
SOHC, 4-valve engine that produces a power output of 18.35hp@ 10,000 rpm and a
torque of 14.1Nm @8,500 rpm.
